Furthest A A330-200 Can Fly?

Sat Feb 28, 2004 11:31 am

What is the furthest that you have ever flown on any A330's. I just got Airline 5 and it says you can fly them just over 11000km, which I flew them from LAX-BNE. Which is an extreemely long way for an airplane like that. You would not get enough passengers to cover costs anyway, could you?

Korean Air flies ICN-ZRH, ICN-FCO, ICN-SVO and soon ICN-PRG with A330-200.
Austrian Airlines also flies VIE-KIX with A330-200/A340.

Flights are over 10 hours. Those are the longest A330-200 routes I can think of.

The biggest mistake made by most human beings: Listening to only half, understanding just a quarter and telling double.

I believe that Qantas' first A332 did Toulouse-Sydney nonstop, but it may have had auxiliary fuel tanks onboard.

6650 nm is the furthest at max pax and bags that a 332 flies.

Your mileage will vary with load and engines, and MTOW choice.

It was actually to Perth, with no auxillary tanks.

I think the already mentioned CDG-KIX is probably the longest, but the daily CDG-GRU operated by JJ is also not bad - just under 12 hours and somewhere, I think, around 5800mi...

The nonstop QF record breaking flight I believe was from TLS to MEL...

"MELBOURNE, Australia, Jan 9 (AFP) - Australia's Qantas Airways claimed Thursday to have beaten the world long-distance flying record with a new Airbus making the journey from France to Melbourne non-stop.

David Forsyth, Qantas' executive general manager of aircraft operations, said the twin-engine Airbus A330-200 was believed to have broken a nearly five-year-old record with its 17,000 kilometer (10,200-mile) flight. The Airbus made the 20-hour, non-commercial flight from its manufacturing base in Toulouse to Melbourne on Christmas eve, the company said.

The former non-stop record for aircraft with a take-off weight of 200,000-250,000 kilograms (440,000-550,000 pounds) was 11,249 kilometers (6,974 miles) accomplished by an Airbus on a flight from Toulouse to Santiago, Chile on March 21, 1998.

Forsyth said Qantas was waiting for confirmation from the Australian Sport Aviation Confederation in Canberra that the Christmas Eve flight was a world record. Qantas has purchased 13 Airbus A330's and the record-breaking airliner was the second to be delivered so far."

Corsair flies its A330-200 with 350 pas from ORY to RUN within 11h30-12h all year round. Some flights from ORY to YVR and LAX had been done as well, full flight.

Ok, Buckfifty, we were both wrong! Thanks for clearing that up, Airbus Lover.
