Berlusconi sacks Alitalia boss
The chief executive of Italy's national airline has resigned at the government's request after failing to win cabinet backing for 2,700 job cuts.
Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's office released a statement announcing that Alitalia boss Francesco Mengozzi was standing down.
Loss-making Alitalia's new chief executive is to be Marco Zanichelli, the prime minister's office said.
