Favourite Place To Sit

Sun Feb 29, 2004 6:13 am

Hello

What's your favourite place to sit on a flight. I like to sit just behind the wing so I can see the flaps and speedbrakes.

I always ask for a window seat on the wing at check-in Big grin I like to be able to see the wing and engines or I'll panic  Laugh out loud I do also like seeing the speedbrakes and flaps though.

A window seat for me is an absolute must!  Smile I like to sit just behind the wing so I can see the ground below and also so I can see the flaps etc. in action.
I also like to sit in front of the wing for the extra peace and quiet, unless there is a screaming child sitting nearby! Big grin

I too have sat in the back. ONly problem with that is trying to photograph things on the ground you have to shoot thru jet exhaust usually. I wish I could sit in the front though - in front of the wing just far enough to clear the engine and get a view. I tried that once, on a northwest airbus, I took the second row of coach (6?) but it was still partly blocked.

On the Embraer 145 I get seat 1A, can stretch my legs all the way out and your right next to the FA. On the 739 I get the first row bulkhead aisle seat, again it's great for the legs and comfortable.

Up in front. Less noisy and great views. Just a little forward of where the engine is.

A window seat behind the wing.I like it close enough to get a nice view of the wings/flaps/spoilers/etc. and enough for a good view of the ground.A window seat up front infront of the engine is fine too.I WOULD NEVER EVER want to be in the center seat in a 2-5-2 config. right above the wings.2 people on both side of you,and the little view you have outside is obscured by the damn wing.

If the seat is in coach: Last row, aisle seat. Easy access to the lav and galley (both are essential when consuming beer), good view of everything going on in the cabin, potential for a rougher ride if turbulence is encountered  Laugh out loud, and most important - No kids kicking the back of the seat!  Big thumbs up

I like the window seat, in the third to last row, on the port side of the aircraft. Don't ask way.

Generally, in the airport terminal itself, watching the plane pull away from the gate as I have already been Voluntarily Denied Boarding, and then cashing in the free United Airlines ticket for another trip...

Back of the aircraft, usually last row, sometimes second to last row (depends on A/C).

You just have to love the right seat.  Big grin
Flying as pax, I prefer a window seat right next to or infront of the engines.
