Re: KLM A330's Routes?

I know it may have been included on this forum.

But when are KLM's A330's being introduced and which routes are most likely going to be assigned.

Thank you.

I would think the following destinations may be included in the A330 flying programme:

Abu Dhabi
Bahrain
Doha
Dammam
Kuwait
Cairo
Accra
Malabo
Douala
Kano
Abuja
Caracas
Washington IAD
Miami
Vancouver
New York EWR
London LHR
Curacao
Aruba

Hi
@IL76:
Perhaps you know Dharhan?
That city is located near the border of Bahrain and Saudi-arabia @ the Gulf of Persia.

What are they planning to use on the Dubai route, currently an MD11 I believe. Will it be the new 777?

Dammam is the airport that took over from DHA Dhahran, KLM is increasing AMS-DMM-DOH flights to 5 weekly this summer! Dhahran was KLMs first destination in the Gulf region.

Remember that the 332 has a considerably longer range than the 763, so you may well find them doing routes which are not viable with a 747 or even a 772 - for example, the route to Sapporo/Nagoya (or Chubu) which was operated by the MD11 some time ago. It can even do San Francisco or Cape Town, should the need arise, so they will have plenty of scope to experiment with its capability.

KLM will like its A330s, that much is clear!

SU184

I think they will be great to see in Cairo, instead of the usual B767 flight. Hopefully their flights will start operating during daylight hours.

I didn't even realize that KLM bought A330s. When are they to be delivered?

The first 332 should be delivered to KLM FEB 2005.

They only have 6 on order but they also have an option for up to 18 more.

Do you know if KLM is going to return to Abidjan, Ivory Coast (ABJ), as they did in the past (until October 2002, with 4 B763 weekly) ?
Their fares were cheap !!

I read somewhere that it should be all done and dusted by mid-2006. So we've got a while to wait.

I just came back from Dubai the other day. DXB-AMS was a B767 and I read somewhere in the inflight magazine that they are going to upgrade DXB to B777 service in the summer.
