Popular Trips - Why?

Mon Mar 01, 2004 3:56 pm

I would be interested to find out what the most requested trips are in your airline for cabn crew and tech crew?
And maybe a small reason why? (money, beach, shopping, days away).

I think it always depends of the personal interest of every staff.

I know of Swiss (Swissair) staff who liked to fly into Bejing because of shopping, others liked to go to Africa because it's special. Others liked to fly into North America and others had friends in South Africa. I don't remember anyone who liked to fly on the TLV flt.

Several Asian Cabin Crews told me that they don't like to fly to Europe because everything is expensive. Most of them stay in their hotel room and save their money and spend it back home. Others travel around in Europe if they can afford.

Well, it's difficult to generalize, but for KE 's tech crew, BKK is one of the most popular. Everything is cheap, the scheduling allows for a full day there, and it's just a 5-6 hour flight from ICN-BKK. Generally I would prefer anywhere where timezone differences are minimal.

One of the most popular routings used to be ICN-SYD-BNE-SYD-ICN when we didn't operate direct ICN-SYD and ICN-BNE flights. You would operate the ICN-SYD flight, have 2 days/1night in SYD, then fly SYD-BNE and end up with 3 days/2 nights in BNE, fly back to SYD and get another 2 days/1 night there before flying back to ICN. By the time you got back to ICN it was almost time for your monthly 10 days off! Not bad if you could get it.

Cheers,
Phil
