One of the best inflight meals i have had has been on BA.I personally think you cant beat the freshness of the food and the free drinks aswell, all included in the price of the ticket! bargain i think !!!!!

My general experience with inflight meals are really based on what airport you fly out of.
For an example. When I flew TW720 STL-LGW twice a year, I always found the food catering from STL to be ok at best.
But flying the return TW721 LGW-STL, the catering for the flight was always above average, and seemingly fresher food.

Food out of LAX is also ok at best.
When I flew QF, and NZ down under, the LAX catering was ok. But on the way back, the food was great.

So does bad airline food come from specific airports catering companies? I don't know, but from my time in the air, I would tend say yes.

thoughts?

Cookies are the Gateway pastry. They lead to Éclairs and Bear Claws.

Worst - in the last days of TWA. A most terrible lemon flavoured muffin for breakfast. I couldn't figure out if the thing was too moist or too dry. It crumbled totally to pieces when you handled it but if you tried to gather the crumbs that fell everywhere they stuck to each other and clothing in gooey little lumps. I suspect about 50% of all the muffins ended up on the floor or in the seat cushions.

Next worst - Delta - a bun/bread/roll something of undescribed type with a undescribed slice of meat. Same thing on return leg.

Best - Wardair Canada - too bad they're gone. Real food on real china in economy class.

Several years ago, I was upgraded to First for an AA morinng flight from ORD to SAT. The fruit plate was the best tasting, freshest fruit I've ever had.

There's a special place in my heart for the couscous served in United coach.

Good food is great in flt. But in todays world on the flts under 3 or 4 hours sometimes the best tasting meal is simply skipping the airline food and packing a ham n cheeze sandwich before you leave.
