G-XLAF And G Opf FR

Fri Mar 05, 2004 4:58 pm

I saw G-XLAF and -XLAG, both Excel machines, operating in a hybrid FR livery at STN on 27th Feb. For how long have these planes been operating for FR, and for how long will this continue?

I think these are some of the aircraft that FR had to lease in because of the damage foudnon some of their 732's (these aircraft are currently stored at Prestwick). I think there is an Islandsflug 734 flying for FR as well. I think they will be returned once new 738's arrive into the fleet. Not sure how long that will take though, I would imagine XLA will want these aircraft back for the summer season.

Yeah, there's actually a few Islandsflug 737s flying for FR - ELM, ELD, ELV -seemingly based at DUB, although I saw one of them at LPL (ELM, if I recall correctly).

There was an Islandsflug 737 at NCL yesterday parked by stand 2. I assumed it must have been covering for Ryanir as this is usually the stand used for DUB departures.

Yeah, the two (ELD and ELV) came left from and arrived at DUB regularly, which suggests that they're being used on UK routes. I don't know which, though, but I'm confident that the destinations served will vary daily.

An Islandsflug 734 was in Bournemouth last week for FR, I think it was operating the Barcelona route. Think Pe@rson is right about the destinations varying, it hasn't been back since.

Islandflug have also been operating the BHX - MJV flight for Ryanair for most of the winter with 1 based aircraft. Girlfriends parents have flown that route 4 times in 3 months and had Islandflug each time.

Islandflug have made a few regular apperances at MAN, not sure if they are FR flights or their own though. I never saw some FR A/C when I was there though if that counts.

Phil,

The Islandsflug 737s that you have seen at MAN, have been operating for FR.

At Blackpool, Islandsflug B734s are expected to feature on selected Ryanair flights this month.
