OnePass Reward Seats Released?

Sat Mar 06, 2004 1:08 am

I have been checking the availability for standard reward seats to AUA from NYC for the past month and a half. I finally found an outbound flight last Sun. I was looking and I found that CO must of just released the seats to AUA from IAH unless somebody was holding them for about 3 weeks. I noticed a couple weeks ago that there was availability to IAH from JFK and last week from LGA too. Do they have a wierd way of releasing seats? I am traveling from the last weekend in July to the first weekend of August and I want to know if they have released the seats for August and they are gone or if they have yet to release their seats. Also, do they release their domestic and international seats at the same time. Do they ever release any Standard international rewards??
Thanks,
-S.R.

It's all part of their revenue management. NYC to AUA? Lot of demand, they can probably sell every seat on the plane. So why give it away? When an award res is cancelled, there's no guarantee that seat will go back in to the award fare class. What has likely happened is that the plane is actually less full that the revenue managment people would like, so some award seats have been opened up. This makes the remaining revenue seats look scarcer, and generates more revenue.

Great thanks for the info. If there was to be another releasal of seats because this is the "offseason" in AUA because of hurricanes, when would that be likely to happen?
