AA Miles On BA

Sat Mar 06, 2004 3:21 pm

Ok, so I have been round in circles for the last three hours until I finaly realized that i should just ask the forum!

I am going BOS-LHR-MAN on the 19th on BA and want to earn AA miles doing so. However, on the AA site it says "transatlantic flights are not elegeble for milage earnings." The date on that posting was set in JAN 2003, but since then AA and One World milage rules have changed. Knowing this, i called AA and asked them if i would earn the miles: He said yes. However, just after ending the call i found another statement that ruled out all transatlantic flights. AHH!

I think by this point, you all know what the question is! Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated. I normally wouldnt care, only this trip will give me enough miles to fly first to DEN in August.

Thanks very much guys,
Regards,
Mike

You will find your answer here.

http://www.aa.com/apps/AAdvantage/ViewMileageProgramsPartnerDetail.jhtml?fileName=britishAirways.xml&repositoryName=AAdvantagePartnersContentRepository&repositoryId=100022&itemDescriptor=AAdvantagePartnersContent

It clearly said "British Airways' transatlantic flights to/from the U.S. do not accrue AAdvantage miles."

Sorry,

Yea, I saw that. However, that was "effective January 1, 2003." Since that box directly below that says "Effective January 1, 2004," I was wondering if the old rules were obsolete.

It looks to me that the information that you're talking of are about a change in the eligible classes of service.

The rest looks legit to me.

BA747400: Mileage accrual of BA miles on AA and AA miles on BA on trans-Atlantic sectors is still prohibited by the US and UK governments. Hopefully with the passage of EU-US open skies in the future, this will no longer be the case, but until then you won't be able to get mileage on the trans-Atlantic portion. However, if you give the agent your card you will be able to accrue mileage on the LHR-MAN sector.
