What's This Plane Doing In Dublin?

Sat Mar 06, 2004 8:52 pm

Do you have any idea why Tarom's Boeing 737-700 YR-BGH was on February 22 in Dublin?

As far as I know Tarom isn't flying anymore to Dublin on a regular basis.

There was also a MAT 737 (Z3-ARF) in DUB on the 25th and 26th Feb, apparently bringing the Macedonian PM to the city. Perhaps this Tarom plane brought some high-up Romanian official? Who knows?

As Ireland currently holds the EU Presidency there was an international conference in Dublin at the end of February where countries such as Romania and Macedonia could submit their applications to become EU members. The Macedonian PM was actually killed in a plane crash on his was to this meeting a couple of weeks ago. The Tarom plane was likely carrying Romanian officials for this conference.

Wasn't it the president who was killed, not the PM, or the other way round?

@all: thanks.

Pearson, you're right, the president was killed, so that the PM was in Dublin

Could it be a new aircraft from Boeing on it's delivery flight? Maybe their using Dubin as a refueling/crew rest stop??
