Well it is either they are starting service to Phoenix-Sky Harbor Airport or they are starting flights to either Canada or Mexico.

SAT <-- the rumor mill seems hot on this one

Otherwise perhaps one of US's hubs: PHL, PIT, CLT? Everyone's been staking a claim in the PHL market share lately, so why not?

If I had to put my money on it, I would say one of these six:

San Antonio, Texas
Phoenix, Arizona
Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
Aguadilla, Puerto Rico
Ponce, Puerto Rico
Miami, Florida

My vote goes to
Santo Domingo-been rumored for a while.
Aguadilla- Jetblue officials have visited the airport and were impressed
MAH4546 As much as I would like my hometown of Ponce to get Jetblue I really doubt it, but if it ever happens I would be really hapy.

I would say the new service out of LGA and maybe, a slim maybe of a new city to be offered out of JFK.

My money is on Aberdeen, South Dakota. About time the poor people of Aberdeen were liberated from the stranglehold held on them by Northwest!

My guess that would like to come to PHX with jetBlue and it is great to make competition of HP, DL & AA. It is on their list with PHX flight.

I still believe it is going to be LGA related and a new city from JFK as well. I do not think, and this is just my opinion that we will see anything offered out of LGA that B6 does not already currently fly to, in other words no new city to be offered from LGA!

My guess is Phoenix, to give American a run for its money, although HP is already flying that route too, and is considered a low cost airline. Santo Domingo is very plausible. I also think that Dallas/Ft. Worth or Houston are also possible. These are large cities with limited service from JFK. AA has about 2-3 flights or less from DFW to JFK and IAH is served once daily by CO and DL.

Correct! It doesn't not flying from JFK to IAH either and some of those city will fly out of JFK with DL & CO either. So if you want prefer that would like to fly with EWR flight.

"WHO: New York Governor George Pataki, Senator Charles Schumer,
Charles A. Gargano, Chairman of Empire State Development
and Vice Chairman of the Port Authority of New York and
New Jersey, and David Neeleman, JetBlue CEO"

They are not going to drag Pataki and Chuck'e Cheese Schumer out there just to announce a flight to Phoenix or San Antonio, for these guys to show up there must be a little more involved than just launching a new route.

The title of the Press Release is;

"New Service Plans From New York's JFK International Airport"

So we know it revolves around JFK (not LGA), and second it involves more than one route.

I've read the link and it says "new service FROM JFK..." So apparently some of you think they will start hourly A320 service between LGA and JFK???!! C'mon people, read the press release:  Nuts

My guesses would be service FROM JFK to:

SAT
PHX
SDQ
ORD/MDW
MSP

It must be something big, I agree STT757. I would place my money on a new route that will have many frequencies, perhaps even a shuttle route from JFK. And nowhere does it say that it'll be only one city.

Very excited! Right when I get home from work tomorrow, straight to the comp to see what's happening.

Yeah, it would make completition of HP, DL & AA to PHX routes and if jetBlue will begun with the new service to PHX anytime soon and would be able great to come. Now, we can able flying on B6 to JFK and not for the red-eyes and make with the daylight time for us. Talk ya later!  Smile

Jetblue will not announce IAH service. Jetblue will chose cities that do not have major hub for a major carrier flying serious amounts of traffic. Jetblue are not going to be beat Continental between New York and Houston, so there is no point in starting the losing battle

I see other cities being added before PHX is ever on the route map, why does everyone feel that PHX is going to be the next B6 city? Seasonal, mainly a leisure destination at best, weight restrictions due to the high heat at times, what is the draw, because frankly I do not see it.

this outta be interesting. I have a sit time in JFK tomorrow early afternoon so can't wait to hear what it is.

i'm sure its gonna be a city that no one would think of...

SDQ, ORD, PHX, SAT, even LAX, etc...all those cities have been rumored for a LONG time now. Look at ATL. that was jumping around on the rumor board for a bit but no one expected the routing to be LGB-ATL. Well...tomorrow will come very soon  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

What about DTW or ORD? Has anyone considered those??

Im sure jetBlue could pick up a lot of pax on these routes, especially businessmen. It would also make connections easier for passengers trying to catch airlines that don't fly to their cities.

I'd agree with STT757... as much as I would love to see jetBlue come to Phoenix, I don't believe that is the announcement. To bring out the Governor and Chairman of the Port Authority... something bigger than Phoenix. When American started JFK-PHX nonstops, the Governon didn't come for that. Maybe something more Carribean?...Chicago?...Canadian?

We'll see tomorrow!

as of right now...i honestly think ORD would be a bad move. there's UA and AA there and WN and TZ over at MDW. if we enter there it'd have to be a pretty big expansion plan out of that city (probably bigger than BOS) cause i'm sure any of the 4 airlines that hub there won't take it too lightly.

Not that it will happen, but I would like to see them try ATL again, this time from JFK...the New York City-Atlanta nonstop market is 100% controlled by Delta and Continental (CO from EWR, a totally different market than JFK), despite the fact that several other airlines have sizeable non-hub operations in the New York City area (namely jetblue from JFK, American from both JFK and LGA, and US Airways from LGA)

IMHO I think you'll see LGB and OAK pick up an additional frequency. I think the same can be said for there other west coast cities.

They are adding 13 new A320s this year plus the aircraft being utilized on the JFK-Florida routes. That's a lot of equipment to place into service. I would expect at least 3-4 new cities. If they are calling those guys down to JFK on a Monday morning, they better be opening up a bigger route than JFK-SAT.

Just my $.02

There may be some domestic service announcement tomorrow, but that will probably not be the "New Service Plans". It sounds like they are rolling out the red carpet for this announcement which leads me to believe that its more than just an extra red eye to a west coast city. From what I have heard we will probably announce our first international service (Dominican Republic or some other Caribbean destination) and develop a coterminal. (I think I heard T4 but don't hold me to it)

the New York City-Atlanta nonstop market is 100% controlled by Delta and Continental (CO from EWR, a totally different market than JFK)

No, AirTran also has a sizeable LGA-ATL crowd, and has a few dailies to EWR also.

But if JetBlue were to start JFK-ATL, I think they'd be successful. OAK and LGB aren't as familiar with JetBlue as NYC is. I believe that JetBlue could run 2x JFK-ATL successfully and perhaps even more.

But it probably won't be ATL.

I started narrowing things down. ORD is not it because the CEO said that it would be served with the 190's. It's not MDW - they want ORD. I wouldn't think it's DFW either because I've heard that it's on their list, but not yet at the top.

There's a really good chance for Flint, MI; Houston, TX; or even perhaps Toronto, ON.

Hey, I wouldn't even be surprised if a JFK-Vancouver flight were announced. Vancouver has a very dense population, and it could use non-stop LCC service to NYC. And think about it - "important" people are going to be there, so it would make sense that an international destination would be presented. And we all know that JetBlue likes transcons, and this is about as transcon as you can get...

By 10:00am tomorrow, we'll all know. Too bad the only ROC-JFK flight that isn't sold out tomorrow is at 7:10pm...if the 6:15am flight had a seat open, I probably would have gone to see it myself!

BTW, do we need to be credentialed to get into the press conference, and if so, would any of the mods mind if I went and claimed I was with airliners.net?

My guess is service from JFK to MDW. B6 will continue to go after AA, UA and WN. All three have a big presence in Chicago.

****

Continental have never managed to make year round service to YVR work, so I think it unlikely that Jetblue would bother starting this sort of route. As I said above, the chances of it being Houston are extremely slim. Continental will murder them between Houston and New York. Also factor in that Southwest also hubs in Houston, therefore both WN, CO would hammer them.

I really do not see FNT happening until the 190's arrive, and there is really no rush to enter that market as I am sure WN is not looking at it right now.

I don't think they're that slim. Let's not underestimate JetBlue's HUGE loyalty base in NYC. Basically, I think JetBlue could do well anywhere they to as long as it's from JFK or somewhere in the NYC area. And remember: WN doesn't fly to NYC, so the only player would be CO, which has a monopoly on the NYC-Houston route.

Perhaps in addition to some route announcements, they'll be announcing the long-awaited reconstruction of JFK T5/T6. That might explain the governor and PANYNJ chairman being there.

I"m betting they're going to expand to some of the larger midwestern/southern cities. Might include ORD, MDW, STL, CLE, CMH, CVG, DFW, IAH, MSP, DTW, MEM, MCI, OKC, BNA, MKE, SAT, AUS, etc.

I don't think they'll be going international just yet. There's too much to fill in the middle before that.

it may say that they are not opeing up LGA....but with the guy from the Port Authority, its gotta have to do with either that or expansion at JFK. Additionally, I expect additional service...in about 3 weeks, the airlines spring schedules will be down and there will be aircraft sitting there. With the space that opens up at FLL, I could expect LGA-FLL or ATL-FLL (if they open ATL-JFK)...

I think that it will be interesting, but i do not think it is only going to be JFK announced (or not only NYC for that matter)

Flairport,

I definitely see what you mean (the last sentence). They may be announcing another LARGE city (wasn't there supposed to be something announced on Fri?), with many frequencies from JFK and other cities.

Or...

An official announcement that a new terminal will be built for B6 at JFK.

Who knows?

Also keep in mind the possibility of extra frequencies to existing destinations as jetBlue gears up for the summer season.
