What´s Going To Happen With D-ABYZ

Although the photographer doesn´t know its pretty obvious that this photo shows D-ABYZ, the LH freighter substancially damaged during maintenance at Frankfurt last month. Does this look like an aircraft that will be scrapped soon? What will LH do with it? A showcase of how to repair very serious damage?

Who told you that it would be scrapped? As far as I know, LH is repairing the aircraft again until May

I've seen some other photos related to this incident. I guess it is due to a jacking problem. I don't know whether this is the first time that a B747 suffering such a big structral damamge. But I will conclude that it needs a lot of money to recover.

HZ-AIO was not repaired due to the downturn after 911 although it was planned at first!

Several 747s with similarly severe damage as D-ABYZ were repaired. That is true. But these aircraft were newer thus making it more economical.

LH´s D-ABYU bellylanded at KaiTak when just a few years old.
And there was one very badly damaged JAL 747 in the early 70s that is still flying today.
Qantas VH-OJH was also badly damaged 5 years back but my amateur´s judgement is it was not quite as bad as D-ABYZ.
