Yeah I fully agree that Customs and Immigration CAN
be bad at LAX
. For example a year ago my second cousin was connecting from NZ
at Terminal 2 to UA
in Terminal 7 for a flight to SEA
and she missed her connection despite the fact that she had 4 hours in LAX
. This isn't typical, but it can happen. Some terminals are worse than others, and TBIT is especially bad. The UA
terminal (which would be wonderful if all Star arrivals came in, but they don't) is better, because it feels a little more spread out, doesn't have the same number of flights, has 1 airline planning arrivals and spacing them evenly, and finally has a higher percentage of business travelers over leisure travelers, which speeds things up. LAX
has bad backups in immigration, but also it doesn't help that the terminals are very spread out. The distance between terminals is great, and the buses are relatively infrequent, so it is difficult. The day when the big alliances consolidate into their own terminals would be a great day.
If I have an option, my favorite of the west coast airport is SEA
is backlogged, and SFO
is better but still has fog, but SEA
is nice and relatively compact. I also like the fact that with the new upgrades you will be able to get to any gate without leaving security. OZ
connecting to PDX
would be my choice, but LAX
works if you have a long connection time like you do.
If you have never designed an airplane part before, let the real designers do the work!
