New Orient Thai Livery

Tue Mar 09, 2004 3:34 pm

Found her whilst snooping around in BKK. What a beauty! Well, in my opinion that is. Fresh out of the paint shop, I believe this is the first B743 Combi for Orient Thai.

It's the best so far compared to other orient thai c/s. Good that they got rid of all white or those hybrid schemes.

Some of the Orient Thai tails that you see at HKG look remarkably similar to BA, in a poor brother sort of way.

IMHO, it looks horrendous, like a DL "Wavy Gravy" gone rabid.  Nuts

Basic paint design is very good but the typography is not good. As a contra weight for the playish basic scheme it needs businesslike letters. Now it's too much.

Actualy, it reminds me of when I was 7 or 8 and used to try to paint model airfix aircraft with a 'straight hand'. I think I did better than these guys have done (even with using selotape)! Utter shite.

Well, I like it especially compared to the existing almost all white livery, which is utterly boring.

Looks like it hit a paint can...or garbage bag at 600mph.

I think it's special.

So what's the fleet stats of Orient Thai now? What do they own in total?
Please excuse my English!

Almost the entire fleet of 747s were sitting idle on the cargo apron at BKK while I was there. Only managed to catch one movement in 2 days. Here's a pretty good site with some fleet details.
