Singapore Changi Expansion/Construction?

Wed Mar 10, 2004 12:11 am

I'm curious about the expansion of Changi Airport in Singapore... in several of the airport overviews, you can see a HUGE reclamation project underway, adjacent to Runway 2R-20L, along with the outline of a third parallel runway under construction.

I know that Changi is building Terminal 3 in the central terminal area, but what is the status of this land reclamation and third runway? It appears to be very widely spaced from the other two runways - are there long-range plans to eventually add a second major terminal complex in between the new runway and the original airport?

Thanks for any information you can provide!

the runway on reclaimed land you refer to is operational since quite a while, but not for changi airport - it is used for support to changi naval base, which was built along that plot of reclaimed land.

the new fire station along 2R/20L has also been built about 18 months back is adjacent to the airport perimeter road.

no idea if additional terminals will be built in between, though
