Iraqi (baghdad) Aviation

Thu Mar 11, 2004 2:41 am

Is there any frequent commercial flight to Iraq already?
If there isn't any yet, what can be the possible airlines to fly it and in what routes?
Will the USA government interfere also in the Iraqi's air system development?
Also, can american airlines have more benefits than other countries' ones? (if there is any U.S. airliner that will fly there ever)

Does anyone have a demand average of pax that Baghdad would have in the next years?

What country would help Iraq to create their Air Force? If it is the USA, I hope they don't commit the same damn error that happened to Iran, Afghanistan and Iraq before.

I think I remember hearing that some European airlines were considering picking up once-a-week service to Baghdad.... then that DHL cargo plane got hit with a shoulder-fired missile. After that, I think the commercial aviation plans were scrapped for awhile....

Damaged DHL A300... I think he was on final approach when hit. There is video of the attack out there somewhere....

If airlines get the "all clear" from the US Army, then I would believe that the first to serve Baghdad would be:

1. Royal Jordanian
2. Gulf Air
3. Qatar Airways
4. Emirates
5. British Airways
PPL since 2006
