Are These Flights Overbooked?

Thu Mar 11, 2004 11:06 am

My family and I are currently booked on a roundtrip from EWR-PVR on CO on April 3 - April 10th.

Our flights are CO 1987 and 1986, respectively (the nonstops). I was attempting to see how full the flights are, and according to itn.com, all of the coach buckets are zeroed out. CO's website won't let me buy seats on the non-stops in either direction either. It seems like a pretty good clue that these flights are oversold, although I'd like the opinion from a CO employee if any of you happen to be lurking here.

If these flights are oversold, what might they offer in the way of monetary or travel compensation? Thanks for your help!

On another note, do any of the airlines at PVR have gates assigned to them? A friend of mine just flew from EWR-PVR on CO, and he said that they used a jetway at gate 4 in both directions, but that there were no markings on the gates for each airline.

Just give CO a call. (1-800-523-3273)

CO's "Customer First" policy (section 9) clearly states:

"...Continental Airlines will disclose to a passenger, upon request, whether the flight on which the passenger is ticketed is oversold..."

Most US carriers have this policy. They are usually contained in some kind of "Customer Commitment" policy.

...If an airline is unwilling to sell any more seats on a particular flight, you can bet it's probably oversold.

Fly with a veteran, not a "Virgin".

Both of your flights are oversold, but not by much, but you already have a seat assignment in F both ways, so you'll be fine. You're in 2F and 3B at the moment.

Thanks for the info, Jeremy. I feel like Big Brother is watching me - you can find out anything.  Big grin
