L1011 wing engines

Thu Jan 07, 1999 7:13 am

WHy are the L1011's wing engines so much farther away on the fuse than on most other airliners? On some pics that I have seen, it looks like they are 1/3 to 1/2 of the way out on the wing.

It might be that they did not want the direct blast over the tail feathes so they moved them out, it also might be noise related or just easier to maintain and get fuel too. It also might be to do with the location of the lading gear.
I sure used might alot!
