Qantas Questions

Sat Mar 13, 2004 3:30 am

I'll be on QF10 LHR-SIN and QF1 BKK-LHR in 2 weeks time (27th out, 11th April back). I was wondering:
1. What 747-400 specifically - 438ER/Longreach/EUD? Cabins - First+Biz+Ec or Biz+Ec?
2. Is it even worth bothering to ask about cockpit visits?
3. QF10 appears to be full - is there any way to check that this is the case?
4. If (3) was the case, any ideas/tips for upgrading or voluntarily being bumped onto another flight? If I was bumped, what would my options be?

Thanks

Reading your questions as I am working as there is no availability in Economy although there is availability in business class / First.

If the flight is over full in Economy(which I suspect by this time it may be). Qantas will call out for volunteers to those who wish to be bumped to say the other QF codeshared BA flight. If any upgrades do occur they will be say for Economy passengers who paid the higher yield for their fare or are frequent flyers of a very high status.

As for aircraft QF10 will most likely be the following configuration of 14F,65J 315Y - with the old style business class.

As for QF 1 it will be the configuration that has the new QF skybed guaranteed. Config is 14F,50J,315Y. see link below.

All aircraft with have the new award winning Q entertainment - see link below

As for cockpit views I would say no, even if there is a yes it would only be after flight shutdown and not during flight. QF Policy is a locked cockpit during flight with most planes already having been equipped with reinforced cockpit doors. Nevertheless doesn't mean you can't try.

I asked on a LAX to SYD last year, I was a travel agent showed my credentials and was told only if the captain agreed and it was after disemarkation and was glad it was pretty cool. have also viewed the ins and outs of the Austrian 777 in Sydney as well.

Wishing you a great flight, I am sure you will enjoy your flight.

Both are Skybed acft at this stage. QF010 is full in Y and QF001 not so full.
Majority of LHR flts are now Skybed acft but you can never be guaranteed of it in the real sense until all acft are converted. Obviously the more that are done make last minute config substitutions less likely.

Well, not quite Down Under, as I'm only going as far as the Far East! But, yes, I am happy, as this is the replacement holiday for last year when I had the flu for the entire week in Bangkok and Phuket (not of the bird variety luckily)...

As it's a late departure from LHR, I'll try to check in during the afternoon sometime and politely offer myself as available for upgrade if necessary! A skybed would sure be good on a night flight!
