Info On Aer Lingus Tail Numbers?

Tue Mar 16, 2004 6:20 am

I just got back from Ireland this afternoon and while there I noticed that three Aer Lingus' A-330 aircraft have registrations of US cities. The three examples I noticed were EI-EWR, EI-JFK and EI-ORD.

Does Aer Lingus register all their widebodies this way? Does anyone have info on other registrations?

The obvious question is why there isn't an EI-BOS, and that's because this registration already exists on some other plane with some other carrier. Too bad, inasmuch as Boston is one of the original Aer Lingus gateways...certainly more historical than Newark and O'Hare as far as the carrier is concerned. I've been on three or four A330s...I believe -EWR, -JFK and -LAX. I'm at work so I'll have to check my log book to see which exact ones. All on Boston flights to/from Dublin.
