Is there anyone who has flown to Amundsen-Scott Station? What is it like on the C130? How heavily are the planes modified? I heard that, during certain times of the year, the pilot can't shut the engines down because they will freeze before any fuel can be put in the tanks. Is that true? Also, winds in the south pole have been clocked at 100+ mph! Talk about bad wind shear! How do the crew prepare for the trip from NZL? Why only the C130? Have any other planes been used for the journey to A-S Station?
