Favorite Angry/Dumb Employee Quote

Tue Mar 16, 2004 2:00 pm

So I just got down watching "Airline" and got this idea for a topic. I love hearing stupid and angry employees say stuff, and I think my all time favorite quote from these people are "Ladies and gentlemen, we have a man up here who DOES NOT KNOW WHO HE IS.." I have no problem when people say this for a real reason, but when someone says it when their luggage is going around the carousel and there yelling at the customer, its hilarious.

So what's your favorite quote from angry dumb employees?

Jeremy

That famous "quote" about "do you know who I am?"/"Does not know who he is" is a bona-fide URBAN LEGEND.
Up, up and away!

During pax boarding a group of friends had seperate seats. One of them was complaining to the fa. "But I want to seat near my friends." To which the Fa replied "Sit here and make new ones!"

Well 76 dumb PAX vs 3 dumb employees.... (so far).

Dumb coworkers (not my buddies) start to gripe (yes, about u know who) while on the bus to the parking lot with bus-full of PAX ears. Now THAT is dumb.

And yes, the letter showed up at Corporate, unfortunately coworkers were smart enough to take their name tags off before boarding bus.

On a DL 757 from ATL-SJC in 2002, I asked the FA what my choices were for dinner (i knew they were serving dinner). He calmly replied, "either you eat it or you don't".

cheers

Was it the employees' finest moment? No, definitely not.

Were they doing something they could get in trouble for? Odds are, NO.

Why? They were on their own time, off the clock. Yes, they were on the airport bus, but if you're off and on your own time, you're not governed by the "must make nice to passengers at all times" rule.

Was it swift of them to tell these stories while wearing company ID or uniforms identifying them as employees? No - but again, they're not on the clock, so odds are they wouldn't get in trouble.

"so odds are they wouldn't get in trouble"

Yer absolutely right. I guess they were not THAT dumb after all.

As an employee, I do want to sympathize with PAXs. We do this everyday, knows all the tricks, PAX may do this a few times a year. PAX know he's at a disavantage, and he's looking to take the upper hand. No chance, but he tries anyway, with, at times, comical results.

Pride gets in the way though. If PAXs (very few) just come up to ask me nicely, be reasonable, NO PROBLEMO, I am glad he's giving me a challenge and gets me out of the daily doldrum. But Nooooo, they want to get the upper hand on me. Oh really? u do this everyday Sir?

OK - your title did include dumb comments

Really bad night. LAX was socked in while wx at our station was perfect. Gobs of delayed pax demanding exact information. Up comes four spanish speaking folks wanting getting upset that we did not have anyone who spoke their language. We got desparate and called an agent who just came in from Tuscon and had bragged about his bi-lingual prowess. Some of us cringed however, because we knew it was usually used only while drunk and procurring female services across the border. He begs out but others pressured him to speak to the now more upset passengers. He slowly mutters something to them and no one hears it. Please sir, again. Finally he just blurts out

A few years ago I went to a local casino for lunch. Someone had parked across the line using two parking spaces, and in close to the building. Having a small car I parked in the tiny space remaining, leaving this knothead not very much room to get into his car.

When I came back there was an extremely obscene and abusive note under my windshield wiper.

It was written on the blank back of the serial-number page of an employee's handbook for that casino. If I'd taken it to the personnel office this moron would have been fired that very day. I was a nice guy about it and tossed the note.

Happiness is not seeing another trite Ste. Maarten photo all week long.
