DUB To AMS

Wed Mar 17, 2004 3:42 am

Hey all!

As part of my summer travel plans, I plan to go in mid-August from Dublin to Amsterdam. Just checked a one-way ticket on http://www.aerlingus.com and it came up to 180 Euros! What? How crazy is that? Anyway, is there any other way someone here can suggest to find a cheaper way to my destination? Any other cheaper means of transportation like a ferry or a hot air balloon? Thanks! Help is much appreciated!

You could look at basiqair for a direct DUB-AMS flight.

If you are feeling a bit more adventurous you may find it cheaper to fly Ryanair from DUB to somewhere like STN/LGW/LPL/LTN and then pick up an EasyJet flight to AMS from the UK.

Capital146, they only fly from DUB to RTM (where you can take the bus for EUR 15 to Amsterdam)

I'll check basiqair, but I'm going DUB-AMS, not the other way around. I just checked DUB-AMS on BA and it comes up to 507 Euros. What the hell is going on there? And I thought LCCs were costly here in the US.

SkyNet (has links with Aeroflot) operate on the DUB-AMS route on their way to Moscow with 737-400s. I think the flights operate 6x weekly with flights being offered for 150Euros.

Horus, Skynet flies between Amsterdam and Shannon not Dublin

I you are feeling adventurous you could do DUB-EDI on Ryanair, Edinburgh is brill in summer, so you could hang around for a bit and see the city or transit straight through and on to AMS on Easyjet or KLM.

Try the following:

15 August 2004

DUB-LHR (BD122 or BD130)
LHR-AMS (BD107 or BD115)

It costs about 120 Euros.

Have done a quick check for your mid-August travel date (I chose Tues 17 Aug as an example)

Basiqair DUB-RTM is 56.82 Euros incl taxes. You'd then need to add 15 Euros to the cost to get from RTM to Amsterdam.
Total cost= 71.82 euros.

Ryanair DUB-STN is 36.07 Euros incl taxes, then do STN-AMS with EasyJet at a cost of 17.99GBP incl taxes (approx 26 Euros).
Total cost (approx)= 62 Euros

Using 17th August as an example (mid  Smile) Ryanair DUB-EDI is 26 Euros. EDI to AMS on Easyjet is about 63 Euros so 89 Euro approx total.
That is a very rough guide.  Smile

Thanks for all your responses! I am actually visiting someone in RTM so I might take Basiq Air. Are they the same as Transavia? Besides, afterwards I have to find a way to get back to London to catch my flight back to MIA. Thanks for all the responses! It has given me many options!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy
