Delta's 767-300 - Seating Question

I am scheduled on DL 1995 from ATL to DFW on March 24. I selected the ONLY available seat at the time of booking, in the last row, center seat. I am obviously not too optimistic about this seat but my question is, on delta.com, it shows that coach starts at row 15. I have looked on the delta website and seatguru and can not find the configuration that delta.com is giving me for my flight. Any ideas?

Also, my itinerary includes DL 820 on March 28 and I can not find an open seat. Can anyone see if this flight is overbooked?

it might be the domestic version, but shows the first couple of rows in coach blocked out because they might be "elite" only seats. just a guess.

DL1995 would be an aircraft with BusinessElite. Delta flights in the 197X-199X range are 777 or 767-300 ER flights with the BusinessElite cabin.

DL820 only has the available preffered seats left, all middle seats.

It is a B763-ER and the reason it starts at Row 15 is due to the new configuration of these aircraft. With the removal of the rear biz-elite cabin seats they have added coach seats (rows 15, 18-19).

Bustraveler,

I logged onto Delta.com, and as a elite member, the seat diagram for your flight from atl to dfw, flight #1995 is sold out. There arent even any preferred seats for elite members. The only seat showing available is the last row center seat. On the 767-300 your on, rows 1-7 and 10, 11 are biz seats. 8 and 9 are galley and 12 to 15 are galley/exit.

Your return flight is also totally sold out, it wont even come up when I try and look at the seat diagram.

My advise, get to ATL early as there will most likely be many people on that flight looking for better seats.

very interesting, I didnt know that about delta flight #'s. Thanks for sharing. I am a dedicated Delta customer. I prefer Delta to the point I dont mind connections in ATL to get to my destination, besides, you get an extra take-off and landing.  Smile

Hi!
Delta have 3 configs now for the 767-300

the first one is the standard international one beginning at row EXIT 20abfg EXIT 21abfg 22abcdef

the second begins with a full row beginning at row 20 because there is only one exit in coach on this one. i think it tends to be the ex gulf air aircraft.

finally is the new international config that i think u are talking about. The whole of row 15 is a crew rest row separated from both cabins by partitions. ab fg are coach style seats while c and e are biz elite type. The actual passenger seating starts at row 18. There is 18abcdefg, then 19 ab fg. Then it continues with the traditional 20ab fg 21 ab fg 22abcdefg. There is a bulkhead at both row 18 and 20. Row 18 and 19 are in a real nice private section that i wud recommend. I have flown in it!

Same thing here Steve. Next month, I'm off to MCO out of MHT...I could have taken Southwest or Pan Am on the non-stop, but I chose to pay a little extra (about $20 more) to fly DL and have the opportunity to get SkyMiles, upgrade to First, and of course, get 3 hours of spotting in ATL (looking forward to seeing my first SAA 346 and KE 777).

On the new international config 763ERs, they do sell the crew rest seats as revenue seats on domestic runs (such as your ATL-DFW flight) since there is no crew rest scheduled. Even on some shorter international runs (e.g., JFK-CDG) where no f/a rest break is scheduled, only 15E (BizElite seat) is reserved for the pilot rest break. 15A,B,F,G, and 15C (BizElite seat) are available for Y passengers (though probably reserved for Platinum pax.); 15A,B,F,G are coach seats but with leg rests - these are normally the f/a rest seats on long international flights.

Jeff,

most people think Im nuts. I choose to fly Delta and connect for the opportunity at the upgrade and the thrill of the extra take-off and landing. Delta's service out of JFK and LGA isnt as extensive as ATL. I'm going JFK to LAS next month stop over in ATL and JFK to SAN next month with the connection in ATL. Could've gone direct on Cont or most any other major but I prefer the 767 first/biz class over anyother airline. You understand, dont you?  Smokin cool
