Ever Wonder If Old A/c Will Be Seen Again?

Thu Mar 18, 2004 2:42 pm

I always wonder, as well as hope, that older a/c such as 727s and 732s will be aquired again by majors. I know this doesnt sound too economical at all, but I wonder what It'd be like if these retired a/c were rejuvenated and reconfigured to fly again for major airlines instead of just seen nowadays on charter fleets and cargos. Anyone else ever have these thoughts, or am I just dreaming of the past?!!!!

I think about it a lot, flying and seeing L1011s, DC10s, 727s and I guess we can add the Concorde now. Wish we could but unfortunatley, it just wouldnt be economically smart for them to fly the old birds again.

Vacation Express has started flights out of AVP with a 737-200 (N982UA) The aircraft formerly belonged to SkyKing but now has a new owner but operates with SkyKing crews. New airline service with an old but reliable plane!

You know, in 30 years or so we will be saying "Wow I miss those 757s and 767s and..." But since these are the planes that are current and out there now we take them for granted so to speak. So I guess what I'm trying to say is you don't miss 'em until they're gone, but they're here now so lets enjoy them!

But yeah it would be pretty sweet to bring back some of those birds of the past. Big thumbs up

The one retired jetliner I'd love to fly on: Convair 990.
