Your Favorite Airport/airline/plane

Sat Jan 29, 2000 10:31 am

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE AIRPORT AND WHY? ALSO, WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE AIRLINE THAT SERVICES THAT AIRPORT AND WHY. LASTLY, WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE AIRCRAFT THAT BELONGS TO YOUR FAVORITE AIRLINE WHICH SERVICES THAT AIRPORT AND WHY?

I think if everyone took a few minutes to do this survey it would be kind of cool.

I'll start:

I like LAX because its my home airport and I know my way around it - I've watched it the last 25 years developing. My favorite airline that flys there is United
because I work for them and am obviously biased. Lastly, my favorite aircrafts belonging to UAL that flys there is the 747-238b and Airbus 320/319 because those are the two planes I have really enjoyed flying.
(I currently fly the 747-238b's until they get retired.

Anyone else?

My favorite airport is LAX because it is the biggest airport (in terms of traffic) near me. My favorite airline that flies there is American Airlines because they are the best. My favorite airplane is the Boeing 777 because it is the newest and biggest plane American flies.

My favorite airport is SMF. It is small enough that there is very little ATC delays and big enough that you can go just about anywhere you want. My favorite airline is America West of course and my favorite airplane is the Boeing 737-700.

My favorite airport is SJC. It is a medium-sized airport but has a good reputation. It has very few, if not, no delays. My favorite airline is of course Southwest Airlines because their great service=Happy customers and good business. The favorite aircraft the airline flies into that airport would be the 737 because that's all they have, but to be more specific, the 737-700.

One of my favorite airports are YVR and YYZ. There, you get to see the variety of aircraft, especially large ones. But I've liked YEG for the changes it's going through. I know it's probably not even one of the best airport in Canada, but I've had no complaints, apart from the crowds and flight delays by Canadian Regional. This is even though it's right in the middle of a major terminal expansion and renovation. LHR is great for planespotting - but it's Europe's most heavily congested airport. I've been there several times.
Did you say planes? The A320 and the A319 is my favorite single-aisle plane, while the 747-400 is the best of widebodies in my experience. But I'd sure like fly on a 767, 777, A330 and an A340 - I have never before flown on any of these planes. They sound like pretty good planes to fly in as a passenger.

Yes, Spaceman, I'm A Captain For UAL

Sat Jan 29, 2000 4:59 pm

I was hired in 1977. Man that makes me feel old. I started as a corperate captain then when I got hired with UAL all those years ago I started on the 727. From there I went to the 737 to the 757 to the 767 (This is where I made captain with UAL) back to the 737 (for senority reasons) then five years ago I went to the A319/320. Today I fly the 747. I'd like to try the 777 some day and crazy as it may sound I would even love to fly the A320 again before I retire.

My favorite airport is RSW (Fort Myers), its quaint, warm and sunny and overall in good condition and well laid out. Of course I like the warm and sunny part as we prepare for another foot of snow here in the northeast. My favorite airline that serves RSW is Airtran(maybe because they give me a paycheck every week), and my favorite plane is the B-717. Of course it doesn't fly into RSW yet but I get to see it everyday and I even occasionaly get to work on it when it decides to break(which isn't often).

Between 21 and 25 year old (your user info), how can you be an UAL 747 pilot?
Please, don't reply in capital letters.

All of that info on my user file is bogus. Do ypu think I'd actually give my name, age, etc on the internet?! The only real information I supplied is my e-mail and location. Johan is the only person who has the real info. Also, I'll tell you that I am in spirit 25, in reality 49. Thanks for checking though. If you still don't believe that I'm a UAL 747 Captain, ask me a trick question and I'll answer correctly.

I'd like to correct my spelling in my last post. I spelled "you" "ypo". Sorry about that - I missed it until it was already posted.

My favorite airport is Osaka/Kansai airport in Japan because it is a very neat and high-tech airport. You can see planes from all over the world there. My favorite airline is All Nippon Airways because they have good service, and they have a modern fleet. My favorite plane from the ANA fleet is the the 767-300 because it is comfortable and roomy.

No Surprises From Me

Favorite airline: WN (Southwest).

WHY: Their ability to maintain the concept of low fare travel basically revolutionized air travel in the post-deregulation era.

Favorite airport(s): I like MCI (nicely designed); Austin-Bergstrom (really nice), LBB ( a miniature DFW in the middle of a cotton field) and Dallas-Love Field (funky 50s era building that has been remodeled so many times its frightening, but it is nicely laid out and convenient.

Favorite aircraft: Well, as you'd guess I'm pretty comfortable on 737s, and the -700 is a real nice plane. I miss the backwards facing seats WN still has on the 200s, 300s, and 500s. I also liked riding British Airways' 777 from KWI-LHR.
