Which airports in Russia have you visited?

Which Russian airlines have you flown within the country, and what was your routing and aircraft?

Cheers!

Airlines and routes:

Pulkovo, LGW-St. Petersburg and St.Petersburg-Sheremetyevo (Tu-134 and 154)
Tatarstan, Domodedovo-Kazan and return (Tu-134)
Baltic Airlines, Local in St.Petersburg (Mi-8)
Aeroflot, LHR-Sheremetyevo, Sheremetyevo-Murmansk (Tu-154, 737, A310, Il-86, Il-96)
Volga AviaExpress, Domodedovo-Volgograd (Tu-134)
Aeroflot-Don, Volgograd-Rostov on Don (Tu-134)
Voronezhavia, Voronezh-Domodedovo (An-24)
Tretyakovo, Murmansk-Domodedovo (Tu-134)

Some of those routes multiple times.

Visited (without flying): Bykovo, Vnukovo and Khodinka if you call that an airport.

That's just in Russia proper, lots more in the rest of Eastern Europe and the former USSR.

I've only been to Domodedovo but flew Air Moldova. Wanna take a trip to PEK this summer and I wanna fly Sibir Airlines (S7). Anybody flown it? What are your impressions?

Ben,
Have you been to KIV by any chance?

FlightLover,

No, never to KIV, but I have tried many times. The closest I got was Izmayil, Ukraine. Was almost ready to buy tickets on the daily Air Moldova flight ODS-KIV too, but they are really nasty about the visa situation for westerners in Moldova. It would have cost me several hundred US$ to get an "on-the-spot-wink-wink-thanks-guv-visa" or a trip to Kiev (and a week waiting) to see the Moldovan Embassy.

Also, Malev turned me off going once because they wouldn't let me fly LHR-KIV via BUD, then return straight from BUD (with me buying a Carpatair Yak-40 flight for KIV-BUD myself).

Anyway, I'd love to go one day when I'm finished this studying.

Is it still possible to cross the Danube to Ukraine at all? There used to be a daily train from KIV to ODS but I don't see it listed anymore. What about other crossings to places such as Izmayil? Sorry for all the questions.

Ben,
Yes you can cross the Danube to Ukraine. The VISA situation to Moldova is much better now. You can get it in the airport and it will cost you maximum 100$. I think there are trains to Odessa, I am not sure though but I would imagine there are. Every time I travel there I take the bus or I go by car. Now Air Moldova has restarted flights from KIV-ODS. Before they used to fly AN-24 and now they are flying LET 410. I would love to fly on one of those little suckers. There are places you can cross along the whole southern border of Moldova, many small crossing points in little villages. Let me know if you are planning a trip, I'll be glad to show you around.

I never really visited but I passed by St. Peteburg airport. Not sure of the name. I am sure it was the main International one. It was great. Never seen a Russian Airport before in my life. Really only seen maybe 12-16 Russian Aircraft.

In Moscow I've visited Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo, Bykovo, Tushino (for an airshow and pleasure flights in an Antonov 2 and Mil 2)) and Khodinka (for it's museum), although the last two are, I guess, not really airports. I've actually flown into/out of Sheremetyevo and Vnukovo.
In St. Petersburg (or Leningrad as it was when I was last there) I've visited and flown out of both Pulkovo and Rzhevka (a pleasure flight in a Mil 8).
In Kiev I've visited (and flown out of) Borispol and visited Zhulyani and the Antonov Design Bureau field at Gostomel (OK not really an airport as such).
When I was last in Russia the only airline was Aeroflot although I did get to fly Moscow-Vnukovo to Kiev Borispol on an IL 86, also Kiev Borispol to Leningrad (as it was then) Pulkovo (also an IL 86) and Leningrad Pulkovo - Moscow Sheremetyevo on a TU 154.

I've been to Moscow SVO and Vnukovo.
I've also been in Sochi once.
The most interesting though was when we landed in a spooky place called Varonezh, on our way back from Tallinn to Yerevan.

There was a period of time in the early 90s which was really confusing regarding to airlines. There were times during that period that we didn't know what airline we were flying. So many ofthe Aeroflot planes were operating with basic Aeroflot colours but with different airlines. Sometimes we would pay for the trip and instead of a proper paper ticket, get something like a token. Very exciting times they were, not that I really miss it a lot.

Regards.
