LHR's Trident

Wed Mar 24, 2004 10:22 am

Hi.. i read recently that the BEA trident (AWZK if i remember rightly) is being dismantled and moved to Manchester. The other day i was driving around Hatton X and saw that it had been reversed slightly. Does anyone know when its being dismantled and moved? Which route it would take etc? I must say it saddens me to think its leaving LHR. Why does it really have to go?
Any help would be much appreciated.. Thanks  Smile

Hello there!

The reason for the move is because British Airways no longer require it and the space could be better used. It was only luck that enough money was raised by pledges to be able to move it - otherwise it would have been scrapped.

This URL has all the information - http://www.zulukilo.magical-florida.co.uk

Cheers,

hi H.

Yes G-AWZK is being moved to MAN. Possibly on or around 3-5th April, which co-incidentaly is the same time G-BOAA is due to be moved.

There is more info on it on the following websites :-

http://www.s4ssl.co.uk/trident/save-the-trident.htm

Also in the General Discussions forum on

http://www.concordesst.com

You can also make a pledge/donation for both the Trident and also Concorde G-BBDG on the Concordesst.com website if you so wish.

There is going to be a book with all the names of those who donated to DG in the seat pocket of the Captains seat and on ZK there will be a board on one of the bulkheads with all the names of people who donated.

Its a shame it has to be moved from LHR - I used to drive past it every day on my way to TBC and Waterslide. I had always hoped they'd repaint it in full BEA colours with the red tail.

Drive past it most days now.... how how flying used to be!
You are 100 times more likely to catch a cold on a flight than an average person!
