Qantaslink/Jetstar 717's

Thu Mar 25, 2004 1:22 am

Some or all of the 717's will receive the Jetstar livery....

Rumors suggest (also reported in Air International) that the 717's will go back to Qantaslink after its life with Jetstar to replace the BAe 146 as a interim solution until a definitve type is selected for Qantaslink.

Can anyone confirm that? Thanks

Qantas wants to run the 717 with Jetstar until the leases run out, then return them.

The BAE146 replacement is almost certainly going to be the Embraer 170 / 175.

Embraer is bring a 170 down to Sydney in approx 2 weeks for Qantas to examine (Believe April 5-7 timeframe).

the QF colours would be awesome on the EMB 170/175!!

would be very practical for the airline as well!

really can't stand the 146s.... sorry if i upset any 146 fans!

It'll be good if the 146s are retired from QantasLink!

I would have expected the Boeing 717s to get a Jetstar livery, especially as it would look a bit shoddy to have a new airline operating planes that aren't in their livery. Marketing disaster!!

Can't wait to write my trip report for Jetstar, I'm booked to Melbourne June 4  Smile

sorry to disappoint classic but Jetstar will only be operating the B717 until end of June when the first A320 comes from Singapore Aircraft Leasing (SALE)
All flights from day one will be B717 till end June.

I forsee 3 x 717 being painted in JetStar colours - the remainder taking some time.

I've been expecting it to be a 717 since I booked, and I'm really quite happy about that because I haven't had the pleasure of doing a 717 yet.

As they'll all be sent back to the leasing company eventually, I may as well get at least one return trip on them.

After that, I may fly Jetstar once more to try an A320, then it's back to Qantas for me...

Cheers,

Trent.  Smile

Inside word at QF is that ALL 717s will be painted in Jetstar c/s....

Remember, all A320s wont come at once, so the 717s will be in the fleet for a while...

The airline will be flying 88 per day till August! Then its over 100!

Jetstar 717s on the way!

They will have two a/c offline to be painted in full JQ colours prior to the launch. Other a/c will have the QantasLink titles removed in the interim. Full paint may be applied where the schedule allows. This may not be until after the 3rd A320 has arrived.

The 717s will have two more rows of seats fitted. Word is still out on what they will do with the 117 seat a/c (as they can't put in 127 seats - 125 is the max!) and whether or not the TWA slimline seats will be fitted across the fleet. Would certainly help has the older seats are very thick and recline really far! Also IFE will not be fitted nor will the slimline leather seats going on the A320.

"because I haven't had the pleasure of doing a 717 yet."

Hi ClasicLover... the B717's are a nice plane to fly in, as was its "analog" predecessor, the DC-9-30. In Impulse/QFLink config., they are still a "pleasure", but I'm not sure how much of a pleasure they will be in Jetstar config. with different, and very tight seating.

If I were you, I'd buy a ticket to fly on one somewhere before the end of April, before it's too late.
