NY Yankee's Japan Trip

Thu Mar 25, 2004 11:33 am

I heard from a friend that the New York Yankee's will be leaving the USA for Japan on Thursday, March 25 to play some exhibition games against Japanese teams, which follows by the season opener of the Yankee's and Devil Rays series, which are to be played at the Tokyo Dome.

Does anyone know about their flight???
What airline is flying them???

Suppose if JAL is hired to fly them, it would be something if JAL used the Hideki Matsui livery plane.

Im pretty sure the Evil Empire flies CO during the regular season, so I'm guessing they will charter a CO 772 from TPA to NRT.

Is it possible for a 772 to fly TPA-NRT non-stop?

GO SOX!!!

Granted, the Yankees have more money than the Seattle Sonics, but when they flew to Japan for their NBA opening day games with the Clippers, they flew NW... all in WBC.

Although flying commercially (anywhere) doesn't seem very Yankee-like, such a charter would be so expensive that I wouldn't throw out the window the idea of them flying to Tokyo commercially.

Opening day in Japan. What ever happened to opening day in your own stadium. Basball just doesn't have a clue as how to improve it's image.

The number of baseball players on each team is more than double the number of NBA players on Each team, they are probably three times as many coaches, trainers etc on a baseball team than a NBA team.

Flying commercial is not realistic when they Yankees themselves will probably be sending close to 100 people themselves including Management, that's not even including the press.

Eastern Air lines flt # 701, EWR-MCO Boeing 757

TPA-NRT is around 7000 miles, I'm guessing it's possible with a 772...

Today's sport section of the New York Post says the Yankees are stoping in Chicago on their way to Japan. Whats up with that ?

Both teams may be on JAL flights as the NYDaily News had a contest for fans to go to the game in Japan, and the winners were supposed to be on JAL. Maybe the stop in Chicago is to connect the contest winners from the NY area?

So, now we know that the two charter flights are with JAL.
Does anyone know if any of those two airplanes are the JAL Hideki Matsui painted aircraft (livery)???
