I'm in the same boat as you Jmy, I've wanted that CDG chime for years now. It's quirky, unique, and cool. If anybody has a file of it, it'd be greatly appreciated...

There's a website that has a very fuzzy recording of the CDG airport chime, although it's almost impossible to hear. I can't seem to find the link on Google; however, I have it bookmarked at home and will post it this evening.

I'm a big fan of the chimes that play in the Denver airport when the train arrives and departs.

Of course, there's also the shrill three-tone chime that plays in almost all British airports (and on trains like the Eurostar as well.)

Cool.  Smile

I almost forgot about the train sounds. Those are cool. A radio station in Denver played them for their on air promotions, but that was a few years back.

What are the songs for the Denver airport? I know one is coming round the mountain, but I can't figure out the others.

One of them is "Home on the Range"... that's all I remember from my trip to Denver in 1995.

Could someone get me the announcements made when there is a gate opening or closing, final boarding call, and delayed flight?

The CDG chime is addictive, I just wish I could get a decent recording of it.

The Atlanta Train chime is pretty nice too.

I like the Chimes at Japan Rail stations in Japan. Luckily I have some on tape from my camera.

Personally I find some of the DEN train chimes obnoxious... a little too cutesy for me.

I wish more airports here in the US had chimes that sounded before announcements. It might break up the monotony of the endlessly repeating security announcements. God knows O'Hare could use them - instead, they play a tape loop of "Sweet Home Chicago" over and over again, interspersed with announcements from a woman with the flattest, most nasal Midwestern accent I've ever heard.

It might also serve to get people's attention - several times I was at MAN and BRU, the chimes would sound and I'd see people actually stop what they were doing and look up.

Can anyone tell me which US airports actually have chimes? I can't think of any offhand.

I'd also love to hear a recording of this CDG chime that everyone seems to love so much. Could somebody with a recording please email it to me? You can contact me via my profile.

There is a french movie out on dvd now called "Jet Lag" with Juliette Binoche and Jean Reno which almost half of the film is entirely set at CDG (the premise is two people who meet an the airport while both waiting for their delayed/cancelled flights) So there are lots of the sounds of the chimes as well as boarding announcements. Lots of scenes of planes landing and taking off (mostly Air France).

It may be worth emailing the Aeroports de Paris website and seeing if they will send a file to you.

If not, could one of the folks on this site post it for us?  Smile I've not been to CDG, but I'm eager to hear it now!

Not really an airport chime but... those moving walkways at AMS "Mind your step..mind your step" or whatever they say. Good god they did my head in. I was sat next to the end of one for about 2hrs. I never want to hear it again!

The subway trains in NYC amused me.."Stand clear of the closing doors please" - I am easily amused. I would love to get a sound file of that!  Smile

Of course the best PA announcement is in London's Underground.

"Mind the Gap"

I believe LAS has their recorded announcement, about bags and such, done by celebrities. I don't know if they are doing that now.
