Repetitive PA Loops At Your Airport

Fri Mar 26, 2004 3:52 pm

What is the repetitive PA loop at your local airport.

I know one: Welcome to the Buffalo Niagara International Airport please make sure that you do not leave bags unattended ....etc...

And one I am familiar with: Welcome to the Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport....etc... it is just a voice that will be in my head always.

TPA - Many bags look alike, please compare your claim check.

Florida is a clean indoor air state. Please smoke only in the designated areas. Thank you.

I've been happily employed with FL for 2 years and at BWI over and over again is the schtick regarding the very important security announcement regarding unattended baggage. And that lady saying in Spanish
A Toto passajeros... (LOL) I think we should put music to it.

When traversing ATL my favorite all time classics are the train PA loops: Please Hold On The Next Stop is Terminal ...

And when on those ATL steep long escalator hearing that voice that sounds like Kelsey Grammer Fraser talking about this being the transportation zone. I do not feel like I'm in the heart of Dixie!

 Big thumbs up

Yea - at ATL it says "Doors do not rebound" on the tram thing. It used to be a rude voice then they changed it when the olympics came thru in 96 to a more pleasant thing.

I've always thought the "You are entering the transportaion mall" voice sounded like Boris Karloff.

I remember until about maybe ten years ago at Belfast International there was a moving walkway leading to the check-in hall, and there was a most annoying voice on CONSTANTLY: "You are approaching the end of the moving walkway. Please be ready to PUSH your trolley. Over the ramp." There was a definate stress on PUSH and the 'over the ramp' part. Everyone still reminisces about that voice when we go up there, as the walkway is still there but no voice or trolleys because the checkin hall has moved. Good clean fun.

Ad loop for a mobile phone company in the baggage hall at EIDW:

"So you're travelling in Ireland, but who are you roaming with..."

Followed by a 2 min navigation through the Nokia phone menu to explain how to select the network in question.

I really, really hate this loop !

At Atlanta:

"In the interest of air safety, please keep a close watch on your bags, personal items, and carry on luggage. Maintain control of your bags to prevent the introduction of dangerous items without your knowelege. Do not accept items from unknown persons to carry onto aircraft. Note that all baggage is subject to search. Repost any suspicious persons, or unusual activiy, to your nearest law enforcement officer. Thank you, and have a good flight"

It keeps going and going and going....spending the whole day there waiting for a hop will sure teach it to ya  Big grin

INSIDE the terminal building at ABQ, across from ticket counters with loudspeaker (and I mean loud) right above the pay phones....

"The white zone is for passenger loading and unloading only, unattended vehicles will be ticketed and towed."
"To he who only has a hammer in his toolbelt, every problem looks like a nail."

Alphascan, surely not from some comedy film?!?!? A male and female announcer start arguing over the red and white zones... so surely it can't be real?!

As you pass into the area where bag scanning for carry on bags takes place in Dublin Airport, there is a long, long message about what to do with your mobile phones, laptops, take off your coat etc.

This then repeats in various European languages.

Now this is avery recent innovation - we managed pretty well without it for years.

If the line is short, a rare but not unknown experience, you get to hear about half of one announcement. If busy, as at 06.00 on a Sunday, you can hear it many, many times.

Now the strange thing is it seems to have little or no obvious effect on passenger behavior, they seem equally confused if they hear the full message or only part of it.

My all time favorite, and the one that is the most annoying at the same time is the "Mind your step" lady at AMS.

I know I've arrived when I here her voice.

Keep it up!!!

My favorite is in the movie 'Airplane' where the 2 voices get into an argument - "There is no parking in the White zone". "No, there is no parking in the Red zone; there is always parking in the White zone". Etc., etc.  Smile

SEA has 2 satellite terminals. The only way to get to them is to take an underground train. When the doors of the train here is what the robotic lady says "Please hold onto a handrail" during transit the robotic lady will say "Notice the lighted display for the next destination" then upon approaching the terminal the robotic lady says "Next stop South Satellite, all S gates and international arrivals" these same instructions are said in japanese as well.
