Any day during the months of September, October, November, December, January, February, March or April when the temperature actually climbs above zero degrees  Laugh out loud

Just kidding.....don't Grand Forks residents who are dying to see some airplane action make the action-packed drive up to Winnipeg???

If they would have made the trip up to YWG in November 1954, they would have seen the pioneer trans-polar flight. SAS COP-LAX in a DC-6B.

They were smart not to go to YWG. Nobody should be North of Duluth at that time of year. Did they want their plane to die or something??? I think not.

At least most of the photographers here don't cut off the fourth engine of a 747 or a wing fence off an A319. Maybe we'll get one of those here someday. In the mean time, we can work on those little jumbos.

Anything larger than a DC-9 that is seen on a regular basis from NW. Although there have been some A319's diverted here due to wx in MSP. I would also like to see anything larger here than the 727 for FedEx.

Northwest 1283 will actually be a DC-9-40 tonight. Also, this little airport actually has info on a website where you can find out more when stuff that matters happens.

There was an SY B738 here the other night. It brought the UND Hockey team back from their crappy play in COS in the NCAA tourny.

Drive to Fargo,
They get some decent stuff. You might get a NW 747 Diversion.

Hey guys, thanks for reading and adding to our post count. Today the weather was really nice at GFK. Last week there was a 6 kt x-wind and an Arrow went off of 17L. Be sure to post when you get some good news regarding GFK!!!

Hey guys! Today, I saw a black person flying a plane at GFK. If that is not rare, I do not know what is.

Lived in Langdon, ND, for a couple of years, 1973-75. Flew out of GFK quite a bit going back and forth to MCO. A real bear getting on the aircraft (no jetways) at -35 and getting off the aircraft in MCO at +85. People would ask "Where did you come from - the North Pole?" I would tell them "No, but it wasn't far".

Flew mostly NW 727s to MSP and on to ATL, then DL 727 on to MCO. Sometimes went NW 727 to MSP and on to ORD, then DL L1011 to MCO.

So what you are saying is that there were two Northwest planes on the runway within minutes of each other???? That might have to go up on the website that GFK has. Maybe.....

Hey Tim,
What airline was the 727? I know the FX one comes here every couple of hours, but last spring I saw an MG one here while I was on A ramp. What a sight!

Rumor has it that there are other airlines besides NW looking into serving GFK beginning late in the fall or early 2005. It would be nice to accrue miles on something besides WorldPerks. I'll post if I hear more.

The only thing exciting that ever happens at GFK are bird strikes. Gotta love 'em. Today there were many close misses with UND aircraft, I'm sure. Plus our afternoon DC-9 today ingested a bird (or birds) into its left engine. It was seen back at the gate with mechanics checking it out.

Interesting thread, I must say, since I never really heard of GFK. Are there any aircraft that operate (or been) to GFK that are larger than a B737?

You guys do get a lot of interesting stuff, like FX B727s and NW DC-9s. Seems like there is a lot of snow too, something that you don't see in Hawaii. Don't forget though, each airport has their own share of rarities. A lot of Asian delivery jets/ferry flights stop in HNL for before continuing on to their destination. Also, we do get some diversions, since we are situated in the middle of the Pacific (like today, an NZ B762 came from NAN, which is a diversion).

Bird strikes . . . yes, not really a problem in HNL. There are owls that live in a "mini forest", situated in the middle of the airport (!!) where it is surrounded by either taxiways, parking, or runways. Owls have flew into planes a few times, but not actually getting sucked into the engine.

Thanks for rubbing it in Jerrold. We're all stuck up in nodakland here where it's still cold and beginning to smell. I plead to airport building worldwide again...PLEASE DON'T BUILD AIRPORTS NEXT TO CITY LANDFILLS.

To all people, do not settle in North Dakota. It is flat, smelly, and worse than everything else around it. Move to Minnesota, less wind, larger airports, and pro sports  Big thumbs up.

Maybe the new airline is Comair, seeing as though they just announced service to Sioux Falls, SD. Would be nice to keep expanding out west! Plus, it sounds like you guys need more planes out there!

I wonder how the fan on a CRJ would handle a nodak bird? Perhaps we'll see in the near future.
