Interesting thread, I must say, since I never really heard of GFK. Are there any aircraft that operate (or been) to GFK
that are larger than a B737?
You guys do get a lot of interesting stuff, like FX
B727s and NW
DC-9s. Seems like there is a lot of snow too, something that you don't see in Hawaii. Don't forget though, each airport has their own share of rarities. A lot of Asian delivery jets/ferry flights stop in HNL for before continuing on to their destination. Also, we do get some diversions, since we are situated in the middle of the Pacific (like today, an NZ B762 came from NAN, which is a diversion).
Bird strikes . . . yes, not really a problem in HNL
. There are owls that live in a "mini forest", situated in the middle of the airport (!!) where it is surrounded by either taxiways, parking, or runways. Owls have flew into planes a few times, but not actually getting sucked into the engine.
