Customs/Immigration At BOM

Sun Mar 28, 2004 9:22 am

Namaste Jii!
I just found out that I'll be going to Bombay at the beginning of June, and in trying to work out logistics with my friend over there, the issue of when she should be at the airport came up. I arrive at 12:15am on British Airways, and we were wondering how long it would take me to clear immigration and customs at that hour? Will it be pretty quick, or will it take an hour or two? (She's only flown in to CCU and so is only familiar with procedures there.)

Thanks.

British Airways uses the awful Terminal II-A at BOM which means that depending on the crowd (it arrives around the same time as Delta) you could easily be stuck in line for an hour if you land up right behind them - even longer if either Northwest, Alitalia or Swiss is delayed.

I think its safe to assume you will be done by formalities in about 45 minutes in normal circumstances though if you have checked bags (30 minutes otherwise) - so assume that you will be outside by 1am if you have a 1215am arrival.
