Independence Air First Flight

Sun Mar 28, 2004 1:57 pm

Indy Air's first revenue flight will take place on June 13th. More to come when I know more.
The opinions I post are of mine and mine alone, not of the airline I work for.

resources?

I know the United contract lasts until June 12th. But with only one plane painted for I-Air and lack of other resources, this seems like a unreachable goal for ACA/Independence. All the other pilots I know are all unsure about the launch date. Many are questioning their jobs.

FlylGuy, where did you get your information from? I checked on Independence Air's website http://www.flyi.com and did not see anything about the June 13th launch date.

This part of the DC area could wait forever for an LCC with a fleet of CRJs.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

This part of the DC area has also been burned every time he's ever tried to take an ACA-operated UAX flight, so he will never, not once set foot on an I-air flight unless tortured.

The transition will be a very interesting one, at least they have the cash on hand to give time to start up. Anyone know how long it takes to do each a/c in the Independent colors? Seems like a complicated paint scheme.

10 days for paint and interior swap. Hopefully we'll get a slow pull down of the RJ's. First flight has not been announced, don't know where 6/13/04 came from.

You won't be missed chief! Go fly UAL, excuse me, TED. For every one of you there are 50 that can't wait. You'll change your tune, and i'll be here to rub it in your face 6 months from now when you jump on the band wagon.

I'd like to know how I-Air plans to feed 87 CRJ-200s with 25 Airbus 319/320s with low fares.
Cross check complete.

Frjmx:

"UEX performance is terrible, does anyone care? Nope..."

That's a worrying statement. Whatever the future holds, and whatver the past has been, ACA is still flying as UEX -

- and making good money from UAL for running that operation. The contract is cost plus, meaning that ACA has a built in profit until the contract ends.

Therefore, since UAL is still paying many of ACA's bills, the folk at ACA should care.

cheers

Poor choice of words, believe me the UEX operation is all set to dump. We need an exit date. Every single employee is waiting to launch the new carrier. What I mean is that the crews on the UEX side are done. ORD has been transferred to SkyWest and we get kicked in the ass daily for it. UAL hates our guts and the feeling is mutual. Obviously we have to fly the contract out. Obviously it needs to be done safely, and in a timley fashion. Ask one of those ACA UEX crews to bend over backwards for UAL is you'll get a two word reply. I say good for them. I work the DLC side of the house, but in BOS we get the IAD CRJ run also. I see both sides and it isn't pretty. UAL and ACA need to go their seperate ways. UAl can hide behind their judge, but eventually they will need to face the music. Again, visit www.aca-lounge.com and post on boards that are 85-90% ACA employees. You may be surprised at the attitude.

Frjmx:

If it was just a poor choice of words, that's fine.

Believe me, I am aware of the ill feeling on both sides of the issue. Because I'm not involved, I take no position on it myself.

I doubt I could be surprised by the attitude of ACA employees, though. I invest, in a small way, in some airlines, and I spent a little time on the Yahoo stock board for ACA (ACAI), trying to find out about IAir.

It is mostly ACA employees, and they made their feelings about UAL very clear.

Good luck.

cheers

I work for ACA/Independence Air and that's what we've been told in our meetings. My bad on the date too It's Wednesday June 16,not 13. United has agreed to release 35 of our planes on June 1st.

Frjmx328-
Who are you to say i'm an uneducated source. I'm in the meetings every Wednesday and hear it right from the Hub director here in IAD. Your not there so what do you know.

ACA Employees,

Thanks for sharing the information, but you sure have a pompous attitude - even with each other. Hopefully it doesn't translate to customer interactions...

Before you start cooking, it's always good to check the recipe... and while Southwest has done a LOT of things right over the past 30 years, I think a certain degree of humility has been an unmistakable ingredient..
Ask why..

UAL Hates our guts and the feeling is mutual.

Did ya ever think for a minute that maybe if you provide a service for UALs Passenger they would not hate you GUTS. Think about it for a minute, it wont take long for people to see just how bad something could be, and I cant wait to see it,
