Anyone noticed the subtle change to some of the TCX fleet.

Thomas Cook.com

They couldnt fit it on the other side without having to move the full title.
So as per usual , in a half hearted style they only did it on one side.

Yes I know the above picture is a 753, but it has .com on the otherside too.
So does one of the A330's.

We now have Britannia TUI in 4 different hybrids, Classic, TUI, TUI Thomson and the old 762 in the Classic /Thomson combo

Airtours/Mytravel - enough said
Thomas Cook - Condor, ThomasCook Condor, Thomas Cook.com
Monarch old and new
Air 2000- Air 2000 old original, First Choice/Air 2000, First Choice Airways

No wonder Im confused.

Yeah, most of the uploads to the database are in a hybrid livery, so they all have to be changed to the other paint category. Around 862 in the database are in a hybrid livery, 452 in the nice, new livery.

Why can't they put the .com on the starboard side? It would fit

Yeah it would fit, but rather than just applying the .com part, they would need to physically remove the whole Thomas Cook title and move it along to make room for the .com part. That would take much longer as its obviously a much bigger job.

There haven't been any Air 2000 aircraft in original colours since 1997!

Thanks for clearing that up!

Has this modification been applied to any of their other jets (A32Xs or 767s)?

I think it looks better without the ".com". Not sure about the dotcomming of all our aircraft...

Not seen it on any of the non-UK aircraft. Maybe its just because of the Britannia TUI - Thomson.co.uk titles.

Me too, although I do like the Thomson.co.uk titles.

G-OOOT was the last aircraft to wear the original scheme before it left the fleet in November 1997, which is the reason it wasn't repainted over the winter 1996/97 season like the rest of the fleet. All other aircraft had the tapestry scheme for the start of summer 1997.

That Classic BY/ TUI hybrid is horrid, it is like they just couldn't wait to paint it blue. What are they trying to do to us, make us remember the classic BY colours as that hybrid???

Still angry about Thomas Cook so I wont mention them....

I agree about the BY/TUI hybrid, it's truly awful. I hate the blue TUI look anyway, regardless of whether the titles are Thomson.co.uk or Britannia. Replacing the great Britannia logo with that stupid smiley face was an insult to that great old dark blue/white/orange livery!

I liked the old JMC colours before they changed to Thomas Cook, but their new livery isn't that bad. Don't like the dot com, but since the company have just started putting money into Manchester City, I'll let them off Big grin

Don't even get me started on MyTravel's attempts at rebranding.

The first a/c is a 757-200, second a 757-300.
Perhaps the other side of a/c #1 also has .com on it?

The 'dot.com' is only being applied to the one side of the aircraft, where it can just be added to the fuselage without having to move the existing titles. I saw their 757-300 wearing the dot.com titles today on final approach to MAN.

Personally i'm not a fan of this latest modification, I think Thomas Cook is a strong enough brand as is their website. I think nowadays most people are pretty well educated about the internet and know that most big companies' websites end in .com - besides, their website is printed at the rear of their aircraft anyway.

Seems like TCX are following BY with their Thomson.com titles which, to the untrained eye looks very similar to Thomascook.com - not good in a market which is trying heavily to increase a wide brand recognition.

I hear they are also changing their callsign from "Globe" to "Topjet" next month.

Does nothing in the charter airline industry stay the same these days?!

Yes they are changing the callsign. Apparently Globe was not working, being 1 syllable and all...

There was an in-house poll for staff, they wanted "Thomas Cook" but the Belgian arm use that. The winner of the poll was "Top-Cat" (TC-get it?) but thats registered by someone else as well. So its "Top-Jet". "Top-Jet", "Jet-Set" could be confusing on a busy afternoon in Palma?...

Or worse still, a busy afternoon at Gatwick with a "Topswiss", "Topjet" and "Jetset".

Thank goodness Flyjet changed there c/s from "Jetsfly" to "Envoy" that's all I can say.

If it was up to me they would still be using "Colours", then again they would still be Flying Colours.

Out of intrest who are "Topswiss"? - i have an idea though.

this whole branding thing is just getting real stupid real fast, they should stick to their colours and names, Monarch used to be very easily identifiable from a (great) distance now it is more confusing. Adding web adresses to airline names just does not work, the only instance where I believe it works is for Fly.Be. I am looking forward to when all of this rebranding and name changing crap comes and bites the managment real hard in the ass.
