Waiting In SJC, Will Miss Cx In DEN

Mon Mar 29, 2004 11:41 am

Well, I'm sitting in SJC about an hour after our flight 328 (SJC-DEN) was supposed to go. Hydraulic issue. They are gonna put us on the flight that arrives here at 6:30 (733 as well) and use this a/c on the morning flight that the later 733 was going to be used for.

This, of course, means I miss my connection to OMA - which was the last flight out. So... I get a night in DEN compliments of UAL. The first flight out in the AM is in the first eastbound bank and doesn't leave until 10:10 and gets me in OMA at like 12:30 - 13 hours after I was supposed to return. *sigh*

I'm done venting.

I did take some OK pictures from the observation deck a little bit ago (and some good ones at SFO yesterday). Maybe I will sit here and upload some in the next hour.

Is it just me or is UA having a rather large number of hydraulic problems these days?

UA has what, 2 daily flights day out of SJC? and OMA, well it ain't exactly NYC. I take lots of reading materials just for such eventuality (DVDs loaded on my laptop too).

As Scotty said, "thank you Sir! gives me time to catch up on the ship's schematics!

Uh, they have a lot more than that. I think there are at least 5 to DEN, quite a handfull to LA and some to ORD as well. They even have an RJ to Santa Barbara. As for Omaha, don't get snide... we have 22 gates in pretty much constant use all day... 3 of them for UAL. The big problem was that this was the last one out of SJC that night and our connecting flight was the last one from DEN to OMA that night (which would have arrived at 11:15 CST).

There was an interesting side-effect to this arrival in DEN. I'm used to seeing terminal B full of UAL and terminal C empty. Because of the late arrival, B was almost empty (at least on the north side) and C was completely full plus a few remote parkers on top of it! Obviously, the UAL stuff was out at the feeders - for the other airlines... they WERE at the feeders! Just something I'm not used to seeing there!

BTW, the sun was out in DEN today so I took a lot of pics. Hopefully some will get accepted around here! (It won't be for lack of light!)

It was mentally tiring as always! Had some good contacts with publishers that are interested in picking up the airline game. That's good news for everyone here.
