Full Flights?

Tue Mar 30, 2004 8:56 pm

Have you ever flown the same flight, and it is always 100% full. Every week for this the last 6 weeks I have known someone flying on business on CO's # 35, leaving LGW at 9.25am arriving in IAH at 1.45pm on the 777. However coming back it's not that full. Can you think of any other flights that have high demands like that?

Man, when I think about "100% full flight always", first thing which came to my mind is Lufthansa's flight FRA-HKG!!!
If you want to fly in April, you must book it in January! Always full, always over-booked! And will they ever consider to add one more flight daily???
Now they added one from Munich, first time, I hope it will help some...

I have been travelling on the between LHR-DXB for almost four years now (3x every year) .. every flight ive taken has been 100% full , and overbooked on most cases
I flown BA (both Daily flights , and were full) dont bother with EK , because LHR is impossible to get - u must book by JAN to fly in summer ... LGW has been 95% - 100% , BHX is 85-95% while EK from MAN was 100% full in Eco , but 60% in Bizz ...
the DXB - LHR is the same ...
KL on the AMS- DXB is very busy , (upgrading it to B777 this summer)
so is AF on CDG-DXB route ...
hope this helps

I've flown BOS-FRA with LH 6 times over the last year and a half and both
out and return legs have been full. Only once (last December) did I have
an empty seat next to me (even though the rest of the plane seemed pretty
full though; I think I lucked out). Half the time they asked for volunteers to
take a later flight...

I have been on United's 941, 945 FRA-ORD and 933 FRA-IAD a few times recently and they were always incredily full (Maybe not 100%, but at least 95 or so). In many cases they were looking for volunteers. Also, the flights from ORD to LHR are always very well booked.

Emirates is one airline I have flown that is always, and i mean always, packed to its gills on every flight I have flown with them! This includes more than ten return flights from LHR-DXB, and two LGW-DXB in the last two and a half years. The economy section on DXB-DAC flights are almost always full to the brim as well, but am not too sure about the business class.
Other flights that i have experienced to be always full are :

Continentals flights to TLV are more or less oversold every day of the year, and EWR-HKG is getting that way also as is any of the HNL flights..and so on and so on.

Yield management and planning is now so good that a consistently empty flight simply doesn't last. With the exception of a few Ryanair flights to little towns in Germany at odd times of the day, I don't remember the last time I was on an empty flight.

Remember that in the 80s, the smallest longhaul jet was the L1011 or DC10, so there wasn't much flexibility and airlines like Qantas, Pan Am et al only used 747s, so you could get a flight in January from Heathrow to Washington with twenty other people. Now there are longhaul 757s for god's sake, and the most popular airliner across the pond is the 767.
fly Saha Air 707s daily from Tehran's downtown Mehrabad to Mashhad, Kish Island and Ahwaz

Just goes to show that the airlines are selling their seats too cheaply!

I think almost every charter flight I have been on has been full.
As for schedule, flights to the US I have been on always appear full eg. LHR-SFO,LHR-ORD & LHR-BOS
