Airliners We'll Never See

Wed Mar 31, 2004 8:54 am

Hi everyone,
A while ago there was a thread all about topic we would never see in the airline industry, but now I'd like to be more specific about airliners that you will never see in your life. So why don't you just throw your ideas about what will definitely never be built for real. Airliners that I know I will never see include the following:
Continental A340-600
Delta A321
Northwest B767-300ER
SN Brussels Airlines B747-400
Southwest A330-200
Japan Airlines A319
JetBlue B737-800
TAP B737-700
Alaska A340-600
Aer Lingus A380
Air France B737-800
Lufthansa B777-200LR
El Al A340-500
American A340-600
SAS B777-300ER
Finnair B747-400
Swiss A380
VLM 7E7
Virgin Express B777-200LR
Ryannair A340-500
Malev A320
US Airways B737-700
Aeroflot A340-500
Iberia B747-400
Lan Chile A380
KLM A340-600
Singapore B737-800
Ghana A380
Turkish Airlines B747-400
Ethiopian A380

Now it's your turn to say what airliners you will definitely never see. You can only mention airlines that are still in business and aircraft still in production or under study. Have fun!

Not trying to spoil the fun, but...

Iberia B747-400

You are aware that IB is leasing B747-400s for the, I think, fall of this year, are you?

Happy contrails,

I can say right now that you will never see CO with an Airbus model. They had A300s at one point and time and Gordon got rid of them as quickly as he could. CO is all-Boeing for the near-future.

I find this to be a very silly thread.

How can one be certain of ANYTHING? Yes, it's unlikely that CO, AA, DL would ever get A340-500s/600s but hey.........you never know what might happen in the future. You can't say "I will never see these airlines order these aircraft" because you don't know what the future will exactly be like.

Even if something is unlikely, nothing is ever certain for sure.

People were very surprised when jetBlue ordered EMB-190s.

People were very surprised when easyJet ordered A319s.

Doesn't it seem strange for a low-fare airline that operates a large 737 fleet to order A319s? I thought it was, but hey! It happened! Now easyJet is supposidly looking at getting a couple 747 classics. Pretty strange, huh?

So to answer your question, I don't know what airliners we will never see in airline's fleets. I haven't traveled into the future to find out.

What's the point?! You could make lists that would go on forever but couldn't your time be spent making a contribution to a more informative and intelligent thread?

Most stupid thread! I could go ahead and name every single US airline and name every single Soviet airliner. It would never end.

How about a Northwest 737??

You probably won't see an Aloha Airlines B717 or a Hawaiian Airlines B737- anything.

Just for kicks, how about a Southwest Airbus A380.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy
