An internal audit by Virgin Express revealed that the Belgian low-cost affiliate of the Virgin group never billed the credit cards of some of its customers between 1999 and 2001 ! The error is due to interface problems between the airline's computer reservation system and credit card companies' systems. Virign Express released yesterday its 2003 results, posting a EUR 19.6 millions loss, with revenues down 9 %. For 2002, a small profit of EUR 400 000 was achieved. According to the airline, the last quarter of 2003 was particularily difficult, as the airline suffered from strong competition (mainly from SN Brussels Airlines, but also from low-cost airline Ryanair).
