My best flight lies between these three.
The first one was a helluva lot of years ago. My dad knew a lot of people at Spanair, and he made it possible for me to jumpseat from PMI
and from BCN
. That was great! My first jumpseat. The best part was when the lady at the ATC sneezed, and we heard it. Man, were we laughing or what?
The second one was a flight between ARN
, back in -00. We flew a 736, and I asked for a jumpseat, and they allowed me. We talked for most of the flight up there, and the captain even gave me an instrument crash-course
. After landing, we talked and talked and talked all the way to the gate. And we kept talking... Finally, we were interrupted by someone knocking on the windshield. There we saw the entire next crew, waiting for us to vacate the plane. Haha. The captain then told me that they were going to Paris on their next flight, and asked me if I wanted to join them...but I had to decline, since I had my family waiting for me.
And the third and last great flight, was when SAS flew their A340 between ARN
on their test-flights. My friend and I booked a flight, just to fly the 340. My friend lives in Stockholm, so there was no probs for him. Me, on the other hand, had to fly from and to GOT
too. Talk about an expensive day. But it payed off.
While taxiing to the runway at CPH
, the plane bumped on the taxiway lights, and the F/A's looked pretty scared. I told them that it was the center main gear bumping. And then they asked me if I was an aviator, so I told them everything about my interest, why we were on this flight and how much it cost us and so on. I also asked if my friend and I could visit the flight deck and snap a couple of shots. After takeoff, she went up there, and returned telling us that she had told the captain about us, and that he then told her to bring us up in front, since we deserved to get a treat for our money. Tadaa - the first jumpseaters onboard SE
Those are my three most memorable flights.
If something can go wrong, it will.
