Wow, its been 25 years? I remember when NW first announced transatlantic services, mainly out of JFK and BOS, with service mainly to Scandanavian cities and even Iceland I believe. Times have changes, now its all about service into AMS and service out of the MSP and DTW hubs.

I look forward to using NWA when they finally introduce the A330-300's from LGW to the US.

Does anyone know when this is likely?

I have nothing against the DC-10's, but I am a demanding passenger and expect individual p@ssport systems at every seat like US Airways. They are the only airline I will fly on to the US at the moment.

thats awsome for NW!!! Congrats!

of course you gotta have the rumors flowing...so...

anyone hear of any new service to Europe on NW? especially once they get a good number of their A330's (both -200/-300) out and flying? is it only LGW, CDG, FRA, FCO, and AMS that NW serves?

what about Asia? think they'll be like UA and by-pass NRT and fly non-stop flts at all? (yes i know NRT is a VERY big ops area for them) but i'm talking more just on particular routes (IE: HKG-US, US-China n/s, etc).

again congrats and may that red tail SHINE!

NWA started transatlantic service on June 9, 1978 to Glasgow and Oslo. It's in
the April 30, 1978 Timetable.

Just going by the NWA company published paper. But even they make mistakes now and then.

Well right now 3301-3306 is in service right now. The reintro on FCO is the only route right now. There is talk of MSP-CDG, but nothing official yet. The A330-200 will be coming in June.

ARCJET,
Your wrong, Northwest began service in March 1979!!!!!! If you have timetable that reads otherwise, it is wrong!!

The April 30, 1978 flight schedule shows nonstop service to Cophenhagen from JFK operated by Flight 30, and Flight 34 from Boston to Glasgow. The service started June 8, 1978!!! I'm sorry Bobnwa, but it's in black and white and published.

Thanks for the link my friend. Always good to have factual in print back up.

In all honesty. NWA could have had a time table out there for an earlier start up date. But if the bookings are not there. The service could have been cancelled before it even began.

After further research and going to airtimes.com and looking at the Northwest Timetable gallery I discovered that Northwest Airlines was hit by a Pilots strike in June 1978 and the service did not start until 1979. The route was changed to MSP.
