Longest CRJ Flight In The US?

Sat Apr 03, 2004 7:01 pm

I would say that NWA's MHT (Manchester, NH) to MSP (Minneapolis) has to be the longest one at least I have ever heard of. (I assume this must be pushing the limits of the CRJ's range already (?))

(Must say that I would never want to be in a CRJ for 3+ hour flight! I flew aboard my first CRJ recently in a short hop from Cincinnatti to Columbus and found the "ribs" on the interior cabin wall to intrude very uncomfortably into the window seat - quite a dumb design it seems)

Anyone know of any CRJ flights in the US that are longer?

Travel Time: 3 hrs 32 min XNA-LAX on American Eagle, dont know if its the longest but a 3 1/2 hour flight is not my idea of fun.

What airport is XNA?

Also, at least on American Eagle you are on an Embraer where you don't have those awful "ribs" on the interior wall of the ac pinning you against your neighbor, plus on the Embraer's you can always try to get on the "A side" where there is only one seat, with no neighbors.

In the NWA MHT to MSP flight you are on a Canadair where there is only the 2-2 configuration and no escape from the torture that flying those things can be.

I haven't yet flown a CRJ, but I have flown a few ER4s. I really find them comfortable, and especially like sitting on the side which has only one seat. It's more like a bizjet than an airliner!

Aguilo,
Just place your mouse pointer on the XNA in AmWest25's message and you have your answer.

This has been discussed before...

United Express' AUS-SFO flight is flown in a CRJ (-200, I believe). I think that beats 'em all.

Yes....AUS-SFO is the longest. Over 4 hours long. However, the cabin does have first class seating.

Delta's longest is DFW-OAK on the CRJ-700...that's quite a poke.

...unless I'm missing something....

1) AUS-SFO 1504 mi. United Express
2) DFW-OAK 1457 mi. Delta Connection
3) DEN-RDU 1436 mi. United Express
4) IAH-BFL 1428 mi. Continental Express (coming soon)
5) DFW-JFK 1391 mi. Delta Connection

Even with fewer seats, I imagine AUS-SFO will take weight restrictions almost every day with winter headwinds...

OH just started a non-stop from CVG to BIL with a CR70 on Apr 1st. Not sure of the mileage. I am not sure but I think it might be around 1600 or 1700 nm.

I think these airlines deserve to go under for sticking CRJs that far. Ok, thats a little harsh but the flying public has no ideas what a CRJ is when they book their flight.

Some of MSP destinations on a CRJ (If I can remember, work the ARJs)

MSP-Pensacola
MSP-Jacksonville at one time
MSP-AUS
MSP-MDT
MSP-GSO

I know MSP-SAV is starting up in a bit.

Also for the people following NWA's schedule changes, it was discussed earlier what some of the routes were going to be, and new ones for the Avro's, There will be a MSP-YXE on one, dowgraded from a DC-9.

There was a thread on here awhile back saying EWR-DSM has been discontinued by CO.

MSPXJGuy you forgot to mention the weekly MSP-MYR flight over the summer. Flown by a CRJ200 from Pinnacle Arlines. That must be a pretty dam long flight as well....
