Animals In Airline Logos

Sun Apr 04, 2004 8:22 am

Hello all. Im kind of new to the forum so I apologize in advance if this topic has been brought up but Im wondering if I can get as many examples of animals used in airline logos. I know many birds come to mind such as JAL and the Tsuru crane (which i miss now). The only animals which comes to mind other than the Springbok of SA is the flying elephant of Nigerian Airways. I know there were various Gazelles like with Tunis Air and the Giraffe on Air Tanzania. Any others you can think of? Thank you.

When Caledonian were around, they had a golden lion as their logo, and very nice it was too.

No mea culpa! Frontier has animals on its airplane tails. Not in its logo.

AA's logo has that little design between its "A"s that is supposed to symbolize an eagle.

How about Grupo TACA? 5 macaws on every tail. Also, Air Jamaica has some kind of bird on its tail as well. Garuda has a big bird on its tail too, the mythical garuda.

Egyptair's tail logo shows an Ancient Egyptian Falcon. He represented the god Horus; the god of the sun and moon.

Air Tanzania got rid of their giraffe tail logo after SAA bought out the campany last year. They now sport a SAA look-a-like c/s. Its a shame because old c/s was really great

Hi

Wasn't Canadian a goose?

Many Latin carriers use birds: AR, PLuna, Lap Paraguay and Faucett (RIP), Lloyd A.Boliviano, etc

The bird on the tail of Air Jamaica's aircraft is a stylized rendition of a Red-billed Streamertail, an attractive hummingbird endemic to Jamaica where it (and hummingbirds in general) are known colloquially as "doctorbirds". I believe the Streamertail is Jamaica's national bird, which is why it features so prominently on Air Jamaica's aircraft.

The bird on the tail of Canadian aircraft was a Canada Goose, not a duck.
