Having Trouble With BMI A/c Registration.

Sun Apr 04, 2004 10:51 am

Took a photo today of G-WWBO. Only problem is, is that I cannot find any information about this a/c at all. I googled it and came across a photo at myaviation.net:

The person who took the photo says its a A321. Although, I am not sure if it is the same a/c. I tried googling WWBO, and saw that a bunch of A3xx with a temporary registration of F-WWBO.

So I guess my question is, Could it be, that this a/c is new enough, that they took the F off and put a G, while waiting for the permanent registration? If so, how do I actually find out what this a/c is?

That's not an A321, that is obviously an A330-200. If you look under the Varig sticker you'll see it. Also look at the winglets, wheels and the exits.

Have a closer look at your photo. Could the aircraft possibly be G-WWBD? In an A.net search for bmi+A330 I've gotten 3 different regos: G-WWBM, G-WWBB, and G-WWBD.

G-WWBD was on lease to SAA for some time, but I believe it is back with bmi now:

I think that myaviation.net photo was taken before the aircraft went on lease. As the photo is a bit blurry, the photographer misread the rego. If you look closely, you can see that the registration is probably G-WWBD (and the aircraft is obviously an A330, not an A321).

Long live the A330!

This is DEFINATELY G-WWBD....

It has just got back from lease to the Royal Air Force, & is currently being used on bmi's MAN-IAD route.
