Tame Ecuador´s 727-100 - Flying Where Exactly?

Mon Apr 05, 2004 12:02 am

Hello everybody,

I recently realised that TAME Ecuador is one of the last operators of 727-100, namely

HC-BLE, a 1967 B727-134

Since I will have the distinct pleasure of visiting Ecuador in a few months, I thought I might try to get a 721 flight into my log. Problem is: neither Amadeus, nor the OAG, nor http://www.tame.com.ec give any indication which routes are flown by which (sub-)type a/c. Also, all pics in the a.net database are shot at UIO.

So, can any of you South America experts be of any help? Are there routes which are exclusively served by the -100, or do they do short term changes according to demand? In that case it would probably be best to get to the airport, put 200 USD on the counter and say "Please sell me a return ticket on any 727-100 flight for today." The agent´s stunned looks alone would make this funny...  Laugh out loud

Anyway, any advice?

Thanks in advance,

Daniel Smile

the 727-100 operates the flights from quito to cuenca, tulcan, and the transborder flight to cali, colombia. also throughtout the day and depending on load factors it will operate the guayaquil-quito-guayaquil route. i heard that they might not be around within a couple of months, so you better hurry. i haven't actually flown on these birds but i heard that they still carry the original interior design from the 60's or 70's. the overhead compartment without the doors. tame do very good maintenance to these aircraft and are very clean. i heard that nearly all their 727's including the 100 series have been fitted with gps navigation. thair pilots are very good.
