Formula 1 Airplanes

Mon Apr 05, 2004 5:24 am

Today we had the 3rd race of the season. I was wondering if anybody knows
what are the planes that are used to take F1 pilots around.

Michael Schumacher has a private plane, as do most other F1 pilots. There is a picture of it in Malaysia in this database. This topic was discussed a few months ago, try searching for F1 ferrari flights or something  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

I think that MASKargo carried some F1 equipment; chassis, bodywork and electronic equipment, to the race in Malaysia.

Don't forget it was the "Gulf Air Grand Prix".

I've seen a picture of a McLaren SLR being ferried on a GF 343.

It's a Mercedes SLR not a McLaren

MEA310: Actually, there is a Mclaren SLR!

Mclaren developed it, and in a little way, the bonnet does resemble a F1 cars nose section.

There was a huge article on this car in an issue of Mclaren's Racing Line mag.

Sorry for getting off topic here! Nice car though.

Today, a DLH B744 flew through our sector, Bahrain to somewhere in the UK. Curious as we were we confirmed with the pilot and indeed, he was carrying F1 cars of several teams but he didn't know exactly which.
