Cruziero Of Brazil.

Wed Feb 02, 2000 6:20 am

Are they still flying or have they been incorporated into Varig. If they're still out there, does anyone know what their fleet is comprised of? Thanks,. -Mark

VARIG bought Cruzeiro, from what my mom told me.
I remember Cruzeiro´s A340s here in my home airport (POA). You might find some pics here on airliners.net

I know they used A300s, but I didn't know anything about A340s. Didn't they only run domestic routes?

I don´t know about routes, but I think they only served national routes and some routes to Argentina... maybe TP343 or Leo-ERJ know more about it, because I´m a girl and I know 45% of what they know

My mistake, they operated with A300s.... sorry! I´m not a Airbus girl

RE: Cruzeiro Do Sul.

Wed Feb 02, 2000 8:05 pm

Hello!

As Julie stated, Cruzeiro do Sul had, among others, 2 or 3 A300s flying across Brazil and to South American destins. Their fleet was composed by B737-200s and B727-100 as well, and they were incorporated by VARIG in the beggining of the past decade (1990's). They were the Brazilian 4th bigger airline.

Hope to have helped,

Around 1980 Cruzeiro bought 4 A-300B4s that were operated 2 in Varig livery and 2 in Cruzeiro do Sul livery. A few years later Varig sold off the B4s and bought 10 767s 200/300ERs. Sometime after 1990 Cruzeiro was fully incorporated into Varig and no longer exists as an entity.
