AA and B777

Sat Jan 09, 1999 2:09 am

Hi :

I am wondering if American Airlines has put B-777 into service ... I saw a photo of a AA / B-777 taken in Dallas, TX.

Any idea or info .... Thanks

No. they haven't

We just had a big brew-ha-ha this week because somebody posted a fake photo of an AA 777 and UA 777 in the old screen. I believe AA is supposed to get them either this or next month though

If the picture was on this website as we have discussed earlier, it was a fake. No, it will not be in service until late January. so far only us (UA) and CO have it.

American 777

Sat Jan 09, 1999 9:34 pm

This year, American will receive two new aircraft types: the B777-200IGW and the B737-800. The first B777 is expected next month and the first B737-800 will come later this year. I believe that the first 777's will be put on the Tokyo and Osaka flights out of DFW, if they put them on Europe it won't be before next year. And it would be only on flights to London, Paris or Frankfurt.

AA will use the 777 on ORD-LHR sometime this spring. Checkout the AA website, it is in the computer as of now.

The 737-800's will be assigned on medium-haul domestic routes (like the 757), for example MIA-LGA, EWR-DFW or ORD-SEA. The 737-800's will replace the remaining 727's. The 727's will be around for five more years.
