I remember working a flight from Honolulu-Guam and chatting with this passenger, and he gave me his phone number and we call each other or email each other every chance we get.

Last flights i sat next to a fat women who hung over into my seat and needed endless poking of my elbow to move her off me. Other time i got a business guy who didn't say word. People are strange. Incidentally the fat women wasn't a nice person.

My father met a Manager for a large company on a flight two years ago. Today they have a lot of business going on within the former Yugoslavia region.

Got chatting to a guy on a flight from YUL to LHR last year. Made a six hour flight go extremely quickly - sadly, being typicaly reserved I never passed contact details.

Got chatting to a woman who was on both my flights flights back from YWG in Feb this year.

Their are plenty of friendly people up there!  Smile

A majority of times, I find better people in coach than in First. I have only met one decent person in First that was from IAH to CDG, he was really chatty and friendly. As for coach, I think I have met alot more nicer people their

I sat next to an Iranian (London variety) on BA a couple of months after 9/11. We had a great chat!

Had a great chat with a lady from South Africa, on a flight from London to Tampa, back in the 80's. I was interested in going, after she told me how beautiful the place was...But, I lost her info somewhere in the airport, sadly. Very nice person.

I think these day's however, people give you the "stink eye" if you are too friendly. I was giving a woman directions on how to get to Clearwater, from TPA, once, and told her if she wanted to follow me (my wife was picking me up at the airport), I'd get her off in the right direction. If you have ever had to deal with the mess of road that gets you out of the airport, to Clearwater, memorial Hwy, or onto the Veterans Expressway, you understand that it can be very confusing if you don't know the territory. She got that "I'm reaaaaly uncomfortable, now" look, and so I just shut up. As we were leaving the airport, I saw her.... making a bad turn, going the wrong way from where she needed to be going. Oh, well.

I hardly ever chat to 'strangers' on an aircraft because you have no idea how they will react. I usually talk to the cabin crew

'Starangers', true. Alot of people are quiet and don't even say hello. But you do get your moody lot out their 2.

I've found that most English people don't like talking to a stranger on a flight. Every time I set next to an Irish, Australian or American person we always end up chatting though!

When I flew LH from ARL to EWR via AB) (FRA / FRF / EDDF), Germany">FRA I sat next to a German girl on the long haul flight. I noticed that when she filled out her immigration card (I-94) that she lived in Sweden. She knew Swedish and she was going on a vacation by her self in New York and San Francisco. We had a nice chat all the way to New York and then I helped her taking the train to Penn Station (her first time in the US). Made the flight very pleasant.

I've met a few nice people on my travels.

However I feel that since the introduction of PTV's, people keep to themselves a lot more. Anyone agree?
